EURASHE's General Assembly elected 7 new Board members in Belgrade (Serbia) on 20 April 2016:
- Paul Hannigan, Ireland
- Juan Carlos Hernandez Buades, Spain
- Armando Pires, Portugal
- Alicia-Leonor Sauli-Miklavcic, Slovenia
- Branko Savic, Serbia
- Alan Sherry, United Kingdom
- Marc Vandewalle, Belgium
The newly elected Vice-President is Armando Pires, replacing Patrick Blonde, Belgium, who decided not to stand for re-election. The General Assembly also prolonged the mandate of the Treasurer, Regis Debrulle. Stéphane Lauwick continues his 2-year mandate of President of EURASHE begun in 2015.
Finally the General Assembly appointed Michal Karpisek as the new Secretary-General of EURASHE starting 1 June, as Johan Cloet, the current Secretary-General resigned.

Join us in the beautiful city of Seville (Spain) on 26-27 September 2016 for a seminar on student engagement in applied research and market-based research, organised by EURASHE and CEU. The seminar will also present and address the use of crowdsourcing in applied research and the development of professional PhD programmes. In addition, some good practical examples of real project work involving students and companies will be presented on both days.

In February 2016 the European Commission launched a call for ideas for a European Innovation Council (EIC) addressing how it should be designed to further Europe's innovation capacity. In response to this call for ideas EURASHE drafted a reply with the new UAS4EUROPE joint initiative, which consists of EURASHE, UASnet, swissuniversities, the Bavarian Research Alliance, and the Austrian FHK.

EURASHE organised its 26th Annual Conference titled 'Centres of cooperation striving for excellence: professional higher education and the world of work' in Belgrade (Serbia) on 21-22 April 2016. EURASHE organised with VLHORA and the ARES a workshop on the access and inclusion of refugees in higher education in Brussels (Belgium) on 4 May 2016. The OBRAD project is organising a conference on aligning education with labour market needs in Zagreb (Croatia) on 2-3 June 2016. The project's goal is to initiate and moderate constructive dialogue between the education system and the labour market. The partner country of the first OBRAD conference is State of Israel as one of the top ranked countries in the world by alignment of education and labour market needs. More information here »

The European University Foundation (EUF) is organising the EUF Open Space Seminar at the University of Aveiro (Portugal) from 15-17 June 2016. Participants will learn more about EU funding opportunities and acquire the necessary knowledge to develop or help colleagues develop their project applications.
