INNOVATIVE PHE: NEW TRENDS FOR THE FUTURE

WARSAW, POLAND, 14-15 OCTOBER 2015
EURASHE will organise a seminar on professional higher education (PHE) titled 'Innovative PHE: New trends for the future' in Warsaw (Poland) on 14-15 October 2015. It is organised by EURASHE and the Conference of Rectors of State Schools of Higher Vocational Education in Poland (KRePSZ). This year's seminar will be developed through 3 hot topics in professional higher education.
The first day will be dedicated PHE's funding and best practices in diversifying financial resources, especially through cooperation with the world of work. The second day will focus on the role of institutions in student development, discussing prevention models for student dropout and best practices in ensuring access to underrepresented groups. Finally, we will showcase benefits of stakeholder cooperation for regional development.

VIEW THE PUBLICATION OF THE HAPHE PROJECT
The report presents the definition of professional higher education (PHE) and the accompanying framework of characteristics, outcomes of the HAPHE project. This publication was made possible by survey replies from more than 600 European stakeholders and by debates in 12 national and European validation seminars. The report starts out with a short historical view on 'academisation' and 'professionalisation', illustrating how much European PHE has been in flux over the years.

In partnership with the Regional Open Social Institute (ROSI), EURASHE will organise a one-day seminar on the different challenges and solutions institutions of professional higher education are facing in times of economic crisis. This covers the development of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), university-business cooperation, stakeholder involvement, regional development and quality management as a strategic instrument for institutional development in PHE. JOIN ENQA'S POOL OF EXPERTS FOR EXTERNAL REVIEWS
Members of EURASHE have the opportunity to join ENQA's pool of experts for ENQA-coordinated external reviews of quality assurance agencies. ENQA proposes training sessions to the nominated experts before they can take part in the reviews. The training sessions aim at providing experts with, among others, the necessary knowledge and guidance on the interpretation of the ENQA membership criteria/ESG. Contact the secretariat to become a EURASHE designated expert.

TAKING STOCK AND LOOKING FORWARD
The 10th European Quality Assurance Forum (EQAF) titled 'Tacking stock and looking forward' will take place on 19-21 November 2015 in London (United Kingdom). The call for contributions (papers and workshops) is open until 3 August, the registrations are also now open. The 10th EQAF takes place after our 'Striving for Excellence in Higher Education' conference. EURASHE members benefit from a reduced participation fee. More information here

THE SECRETARIAT OF EURASHE CLOSES 20 JUL - 7 AUG
The secretariat will close between Monday 20 July and Friday 7 August included. We will be back on Monday 10 August to work on our Bologna-related event in September, our seminar on innovative PHE in October, our conference on excellence in November, and our event on regional development and service to society in December. We wish you a pleasent summer! -- to learn more on universities of applied sciences our library is a good source of reading material.
