EURASHE will take centre stage at this year's EQAF alongside representatives of the European Students' Union (ESU) - in parallel plenary sessions and in workshops.
We encourage EURASHE members and other representatives of professional higher education to join us in contributing to the 9th European Quality Assurance Forum!



The 9th EQAF will take place in Barcelona (Spain) on 13-15 November 2014 and will concentrate on the topic of 'Changing Education - Quality Assurance and the Shift from Teaching to Learning'.

We encourage EURASHE members to take part in EQAF and to respond to the call for contributions which is open until 25 July. Contributions are possible in the form of workshops or papers.

EURASHE will organise a seminar on professional higher education titled 'Building bridges for a more professional higher education' in Otocec Castle (Slovenia), on 16-17 October 2014.


 
The seminar will bring forward recent developments in the professional higher education sphere. The outcomes of the HAPHE project will present the work on definition and characteristics of professional higher education. At the same time, case studies from various countries will stimulate better understanding of different trends across Europe. The seminar will further position professional higher education in the EHEA and contribute to the process of its harmonisation.

EURASHE members are invited to take part in ENQA's upcoming expert training, which will take place in Oslo (Norway) on 6-7 November 2014.

In reviews coordinated by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), the expert panel is composed of three reviewers (including the review chair and secretary) nominated by the board of ENQA, and two further external reviewers from the stakeholders, including EUA, ESU and EURASHE.

 

There are still a few spots left in ENQA's expert training for EURASHE members. Please contact the Secretariat if you are interested before 25 July.

The PHExcel initiative aiming at recognising professional higher education excellence gathered the first meeting of its expert group in Brussels (Belgium) on 23-24 June. Hosted by the Association Europeenne des Conservatoires, Academies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC), the 14 experts debated the concept of excellence in professional higher education and launched the development of a quality framework for professional higher education excellence.



The next meeting of the expert group, 9-10 September, will continue the process discussing descriptors and indicators of excellence.

The outcome of the first stage of the PHExcel initiative, research on quality tools currently in use in (professional) higher education, the report on Quality Tools for Professional Higher Education Review and Improvement will be published by 15 July.

HEInnovate - A SELF-ASSESSMENT TOOL FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL HEIs

Have you ever wondered how entrepreneurial is your higher education institution? HEInnovate is an online self-assessment tool for heads of faculties, lecturers, staff, alumni and administrators in institutions. It provides instant feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of an institution as well as case studies adapted to specific needs. HEInnovate has been developed by the European Commission and the OECD.



MEASURING THE IMPACT OF UNIVERSITY-BUSINESS COOPERATION

Cardiff University, in association with Newcastle University and Imperial Consultants presented a report on the impact on university-business cooperation to the European Commission's DG Education and Culture. Through this study, numerous benefits of university-business cooperation in the field of education have been identified.  Taking into account that institutions providing professional higher education are at the forefront in university-business cooperation, we look forward to see further developments in this discussion.

In a recent article in University WorldNews, Dr Anne Corbett, an Associate of the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE) presents her case for lifelong learning becoming a "new patern" in support of employability in a knowledge economy. A participant in our 24th Annual Conference she also recalls Armenia's efforts to modernise its higher education system since 1991.
