Gear:
1. Bike - keep your bike in good working condition. Use Tri-Flow on your chain, derailleurs. 2. Helmet - a must. Replace yours every 3 to 5 years. 3. Fenders - you and your bike stay dry and clean. 4. Lights - see and be seen. Front and back. 5. Rear rack w/ basket or panniers (saddlebags) - make your bike carry your stuff, not your back. 6. Lock - keep your bike. 7. Tools - floor pump, multi-tool, extra tube, tire levers, emergency inflation. Just ask us. 8. Clothing - reflective jacket or vest. Ankle strap for your pants leg. Gloves protect sensitive nerves. 9. Computer - keep track of your speed, time, distance.

Excuses: 1. Out of shape: ride at an easy pace. Practice on the weekends. You will get faster & better! 2. Too far: Combine riding with driving. Put your bike on your car rack. Drive halfway, pedal the rest! 3. No bike parking: Use a storage area in your office. Bike racks are popping up lots of places. 4. No showers: Ride into work at an easy pace. Ride home at the faster pace and then shower. 5. Need to wear dress clothes: Change clothes when you get to work. Keep extra clothes at office. 6. Not sure of best route: Use Indy, Carmel, Westfield marked routes. Paper maps free at our shop. 7. Weather changes: Watch the radar. Keep a rain jacket in your bike bag. Have Plan B.

Have you seen a big group of happy bikers pedaling around town wearing lime green T-Shirts? Come ride with us! We pedal 10 miles at 10mph! We meet at 6:30 every Thursday evening at Carmel Cyclery. Patrick leads the ride and we explore neighborhoods around Carmel. Then, we go out for a bite to eat! Everyone welcome!

Rollfast Gran Fondo, Sunday, Sept 14, 8am. 620 Rangeline Road. A mass start, timed cycling event with a festival! 25, 60,100 mile routes. We will have a mechanic there to help with minor issues!
