I've been listening to Pastor Joe Focht from Calvary Chapel Philadelphia on my smart phone. He goes verse by verse and the whole bible is available on the app or website. I have found that listening to the Word of God explained in the car is much better than talk radio! See the link below.

Food for Thought...
I believe our nation is headed for very hard, even disastrous times. I do not believe politics will fix our economy - it's too far gone - too much debt to ever pay back. We depend completely on our fragile technological infrastructure for food, water, shelter, transportation, and entertainment. Any number of events could cause a sudden collapse of our system e.g., electric grid collapse from terrorism, natural event like solar flare, simple breakdown from lack of modernization, or Israel attacks Iran and the price of oil skyrockets, or China stops buying our treasury bonds. I am feeling called to prepare for such disaster by working to be less dependent and more self-sufficient. If you have interest in or questions about this line of thinking, please e-mail me by replying to this e-mail. Below are some of my favorite links:

Luke 12:7
6"What is the price of five sparrows-two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them.7And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
Our true value is God's estimate of our worth, not our peers'. Other people evaluate and categorize us according to how we perform, what we achieve, and how we look. But God cares for us, as he does for all of his creatures, because we belong to him. So we can face life without fear.

Acts 20:7-12
7 On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight. 8 There were many lamps in the upstairs room where we were meeting. 9 Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead. 10 Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms around him. "Don't be alarmed," he said. "He's alive!" 11 Then he went upstairs again and broke bread and ate. After talking until daylight, he left. 12 The people took the young man home alive and were greatly comforted.
I love the way God's book does not portray his heroes as some type of perfect people. Paul is so human. He's so zealous to teach the gospel that he goes on and on until one guy falls asleep and falls out the window! Then he lays on the guy! That's not the way I learned CPR. I wonder if he was sure he was alive when he told everyone to not worry and get back to their seats or if he was hoping for the best. All joking aside, what lengths are we willing to go to share the good news of Jesus with others? If God could use Paul, the murderer of Christians, God can use us. But don't worry. He will use you with the gifts you have. Surrender to Him and listen to his prompting. I'm kind of Paulish. I'm aggressive, confrontational, and I can talk forever! God uses me and He will use you the way that suits Him.
