After talking about our great Christian friends in my comments last time, the Emo's and Walker's surprised us by showing up in Baltimore and we had wonderful fellowship! Crazy Christians!

Food for Thought...
I believe our nation is headed for very hard, even disastrous times. I do not believe politics will fix our economy - it's too far gone - too much debt to ever pay back. We depend completely on our fragile technological infrastructure for food, water, shelter, transportation, and entertainment. Any number of events could cause a sudden collapse of our system e.g., electric grid collapse from terrorism, natural event like solar flare, simple breakdown from lack of modernization, or Israel attacks Iran and the price of oil skyrockets, or China stops buying our treasury bonds. I am feeling called to prepare for such disaster by working to be less dependent and more self-sufficient. Zechariah 10:2
2 The idols speak deceitfully, diviners see visions that lie; they tell dreams that are false, they give comfort in vain. Therefore the people wander like sheep oppressed for lack of a shepherd.
I have talked with more than one Christian who have gone to a psychic or used tarot cards. They think these things are just harmless fun or that they have some supernatural authenticity. Above is just one of the many verses than expressly warns against exposing ourselves to these diviners. We are only to look to God for guidance. If He's not saying, we don't need to know. God speaks through His Word, through prayer, and through other believers acting on His behalf.
We often create idols of money, power, fame, or success, and then we expect them to give us happiness and security. But these idols can't supply what we need any more than a stone image can make it rain. How foolish it is to trust in idols. Instead, trust God's promises for your future.

Acts 3: 1-10
1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer-at three in the afternoon. 2 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, "Look at us!" 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
6 Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
Does God still heal miraculously? I am sure He does and I know of a few cases. Why doesn't He do it more? I think that most Americans would look at a healing miracle as a miracle of science or just good fortune. It seems like God's miracles in the Bible are designed to draw people to have Faith in Him.
