The devil wants us to give in to sin and give up on Jesus.  I'm not gonna do it.  Don't believe for a second that anything about following Jesus is easy.  Don't let the devil convince you that because you sin, you should forget about praying or reading the Bible.  Jesus, Lord please lift me when I fall and hold me up so as not to fall again.  I cannot stand on my own.

Food for Thought...

I believe our nation is headed for very hard, even disastrous times.  I do not believe politics will fix our economy - it's too far gone - too much debt to ever pay back.  We depend completely on our fragile technological infrastructure for food, water, shelter, transportation, and entertainment.  Any number of events could cause a sudden  collapse of our system e.g., electric grid collapse from terrorism, natural event like solar flare, simple breakdown from lack of modernization, or Israel attacks Iran and the price of oil skyrockets, or China stops buying our treasury bonds.  I am feeling called to prepare for such disaster by working to be less dependent and more self-sufficient.  If you have interest in or questions about this line of thinking, please e-mail me by replying to this e-mail.  Below are some of my favorite links:

   Proverbs 18:24
24 One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Loneliness is everywhere. Many people feel cut off and alienated from others. Being in a crowd just makes people more aware of their isolation. We all need friends who will stick close, listen, care, and offer help when it is needed-in good times and bad. It is better to have one such friend than dozens of superficial acquaintances. Instead of wishing you could find a true friend, seek to become one. There are people who need your friendship. Ask God to reveal them to you, and then take on the challenge of being a true friend.

                 John 8:48-58

48 The Jews answered him, "Aren't we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?" 49 "I am not possessed by a demon," said Jesus, "but I honor my Father and you dishonor me. 50 I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge. 51 Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death." 52 At this they exclaimed, "Now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death. 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?" 54 Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. 55 Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad."  57 "You are not yet fifty years old," they said to him, "and you have seen Abraham!"  58 "Very truly I tell you," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" 59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

Here is another example of this outrageous claim by Jesus that He is God.  It didn't make sense to the religious leaders and was insulting to them and worse it was blasphemous to God. These outrageous claims create a problem.  If He is crazy or a liar what do we make of His teachings?  Did He act crazy?  Did anyone every catch Him in a lie or any sin for that matter?  His enemies didn't argue that He didn't perform miracles.  They lied to the Romans to get Him crucified by saying He was a threat to Caesar.  Others have claimed to be gods but could not live up to the claim.  Jesus did miracles and rose from the dead.  The only way it all makes sense is if His claim is true.  He is the Christ, the Messiah, the Alpha and Omega, the Creator, come to earth as a man to know us more and to save us.  Wow!
