Food for Thought...
I believe our nation is headed for very hard, even disastrous times. I do not believe politics will fix our economy - it's too far gone - too much debt to ever pay back. We depend completely on our fragile technological infrastructure for food, water, shelter, transportation, and entertainment. Any number of events could cause a sudden collapse of our system e.g., electric grid collapse from terrorism, natural event like solar flare, simple breakdown from lack of modernization, or Israel attacks Iran and the price of oil skyrockets, or China stops buying our treasury bonds. I am feeling called to prepare for such disaster by working to be less dependent and more self-sufficient. Psalm 119:125 125 I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes.
The psalmist asked God for discernment. Faith comes alive when we apply Scripture to our daily tasks and concerns. We need discernment so we can understand, and we need the desire to apply Scripture where we need help. The Bible is like medicine-it goes to work only when we apply it to the affected areas. As you read the Bible, be alert for lessons, commands, or examples that you can put into practice.

John 6:48-66
67"You do not want to leave too, do you?"Jesus asked the Twelve.
68Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God."70Then Jesus replied, "Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!"
71(He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.)
Have you come to believe and know that Jesus is the Holy One of God? If that is true, how does it impact your life? I continue to struggle to make Jesus my center and my focus. Only He can change me as my natural state is to be Joe centered and focused. I need to remind myself every morning who is Lord of my life. I just need to let Jesus do His work in me. I know how, through daily prayer and bible study, I just need to be consistent. I do know that unlike Judas, regardless of my inconsistency or sin, I belong to Jesus and I am His disciple.
