News from Art Sandy Springs

Greetings!

Fall is in the air and with it comes many fun and exciting opportunities to experience and appreciate the wonderful arts in Sandy Springs. The Sandy Springs Festival was this past weekend and the Art Sandy Springs booth generated much interest in our exciting 2011-2012 year, including our Playable Arts Park, our plans for the beautiful planters on Roswell Road, as well as our traditional ArtSSpring with daily art and cultural full activities and our annual Gala.

We will distribute this newsletter throughout the year in an effort to keep you informed about our organization and arts in the City. If you have a contribution, please email Teri Cloud, and be sure to forward this newlstter to your friends and family and encourage them to participate in promoting arts in Sandy Springs!

Warmest regards,

Cheri Morris
President

As many of you know, The Abernathy Greenway is under construction and giving Sandy Springs a "fresh new face lift" in its location on a mile long stretch of Abernathy Road between Roswell Road and Johnson Ferry Road.

The Sandy Springs Conservancy and Art Sandy Springs formed a joint venture to create The Playable Art Park at Abernathy Green, a children's sculpture park as an innovative and fun way to introduce children to art through play. Funded by Northside Hospital, the Playable Art Park will help children experience art by encouraging them to climb on it, jump from it, crawl through it, move it, and just plain play around it. This unique play space will inspire children on many levels.

ArtSS member Joan Plunkett adds to the beauty of the planters on Roswell Road.

ArtSS is very appreciative of Mayor Eva Galambos and the City of Sandy Springs for their support in arranging for OpTech to water our beautiful planters on Roswell Road.

Enjoy our handsome, flourishing planters as Cyndee Lucia, the horticulturist at the Peachtree Dunwoody Home Depot, adds a wide arrangement of flowers and greenery -- all generously donated by Home Depot -- to all 32 of our planters.

All planters now have sponsors, including our final three sponsors The Sally and Peter Parsonson Foundation at Comwell Square and The Sandy Springs Shopping Center, as well as Cynthia and Jerre Swann at Cromwell Square.
