As the Summer ends and we look to the Fall and the beginning of a new school year for children all over America, children in South Sudan often find themselves without books or classrooms or teachers to help perform the miracle of turning young minds into literate, productive, contributing adults capable of building a nation.

Our aim is the same today as it was in 2005 when we began this journey-"Building Schools and Hope in South Sudan". Now, after winning a hard fought battle for independence in 2011, the government faces the challenge of developing a new nation while still relying on the NGO's to help them with educational infrastructure. The people in the villages want what we all want for our children: a good education and the opportunity that education that can create in their lives.

 You can see it has been another successful year for PESS:

• Completed our third year with Daniel Majok Gai as our South Sudan Director overseeing projects and building relationships with other international organizations that lead to creating partner opportunities in South Sudan.
• Installed windows & doors in 8 classrooms in Maar at Marc Nikkel Primary, enabling over 1,000 students with an environment for learning.
• Collaborated with UKAID and Hold the Child in rebuilding the storm damaged four classrooms at Ayak Anguei Girls School.
• Provided 100 desks for the four new classrooms at Ayak Anguei Girls School.
• Built the foundation and walls for last four classrooms at Tong Pagook Primary School.
