Ollie's Offerings

As teachers and students return to their schools, we at APC are preparing to begin a new Christian Education year.  Sunday School classes for all ages will begin at 9:45am on Sunday, August 18.  Parents will soon be hearing more about what's in store for youth and children.  But in this piece as in worship this Sunday, I'd like to focus your attention on the many exciting opportunities we have for adults.

Ryan Bonfiglio will open our Adult Ed year with a four-week series beginning on August 18 in the theater. Ryan will be looking at popular Christianity from a Presbyterian and Reformed perspective. Ryan is a very gifted and popular teacher and we expect a full-house for each of those hour-long sessions.  When that series is completed, we will break into three separate Adult Sunday School classes. The Crossroads Class will use the bible-based Presbyterian curriculum entitled The Present Word, The Contemporary Conversations class will spend six weeks on "Christianity and Islam" and our Faith and Families class will study and discuss issues of faith as they relate to home and family life.  I encourage you to participate!

Another significant opportunity for adult faith development and spiritual growth at APC comes through our Disciple Bible Study series. Disciple I classes will begin in mid-August and be taught by our pastors. If you have never taken Disciple before, join us for this 35-week course as we read and discuss our way from Genesis to Revelation.  Pick a time that works best for you-Sundays from 5:30-7:30pm or Mondays from 9:30-11:30am.  Contact the office to register!  Now is the time to sign-up!

Upper-level and short courses are also available in the Disciple series for students who have already completed Disciple I. Those courses are currently being organized, so I encourage all of you who are interested in participating to sign up by speaking with former classmates, class teachers or by contacting the office.

Jesus commanded us "to love God with our minds." It's a good time of year to take action on that!

Sunrise Service

This Sunday at 7:00am there will be a Sunrise Communion Service at the outdoor chapel. Dress informally and join us!

 School Supply Drive

Please consider donating any of the supplies shown on the display near the door to the multipurpose room. There are lists to take with you in the envelope on the display. Please leave items in the blue Mission bin next to the display. If you prefer to make a cash donation, please note "school supplies drive" on the memo line of your check. Thank you for your support.
