Ollie's Offerings

The Oklahoma tornado that claimed so many innocent and young lives is yet another tragedy to which our nation responds. We can hardly imagine the pain, grief and loss that those folks are enduring. As you know from a previous email this week from APC, the Presbyterian Church is responding with gifts, prayers and service to tornado victims. Please respond as you are able and keep the victims, survivors and responders in your prayers. You can learn more about the response of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance by visiting our website www.alpharettapres.com.

This past week Rev. Jamie Butcher and I have supported members through times of grief, hospitalization, recovery and personal crisis. I do give thanks for her compassionate, Spirit-filled work she provides through pastoral care, as well as the outstanding service and support of our Deacons and prayer ministry. I am blessed to share in that work, too. In times of trouble and hardship, we give thanks for the unfailing and ever-present love of God and the fellowship of the church.

Thank you for your gifts, prayers and service that shine upon others the light of Jesus Christ...especially in times when it seems to them that the sun has completely disappeared. May God strengthen you in ministry!

Office Closed
The church office will be closed Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day.
The Times (and Places) Are A-Changin'!

Sunday morning worship times are changing for the summer!  Beginning this Sunday, May 26 and running through August 11, we will worship at 9:00 and 10:30am.

Additionally, we will hold a sunrise service on June 2, July 7, and August 4 (first Sunday of each month) at 7:00am in the outdoor chapel.

Sunday worship will be held in the multipurpose Room (MPR) in the education building beginning June 23.  Assuming the renovation of the sanctuary is complete, we will resume worship in the sanctuary according to our normal fall schedule on August 18.  Sunday School will resume on August 18.

Foster Care Support
The APC Foster Care Support Mission Team invites you to join them for their monthly volunteer day in Roswell this Tuesday, May 28. We carpool from APC at 9:30 in the morning, help sort clothing, and fill mail orders for children in foster care. We then enjoy lunch and fellowship at a nearby restaurant before returning to the church by 2:00 PM. For more information,  contact Marianna Raffensperger at 770-442-3672 or theraffs@juno.com.

Haiti Interest Meeting

There will be an APC Haiti interest group meeting next Tuesday May 28, at 7:00pm in Room 210.  We will discuss our new relationship with our sister congregation, Holy Innocents, in the community of Ticotelette on the island of La Gonāve Haiti. There will also be information about our mission trip plans for September. As we gingerly begin this relationship, we seek those with interest in the Haiti mission, to join us in planning so it grows as a healthy partnership under God's direction.  Whether you plan to travel on a mission trip or not, we welcome your engagement in dialogue and prayer with us.

STARS Picnic
Our annual picnic will be Wednesday, May 29, at 12:00 noon at West Beach Park on Lake Lanier. This is the same location as last year. Bring your favorite picnic dish to share and what you want to drink. Paper goods will be provided. Hope everyone can make the picnic. Our next meeting will be the second Wednesday in September. If you can't make the picnic, we hope you have a wonderful summer!!  If you have any questions, please call Sue Blaine at 678-341-6349, cell: 770-880-2392.
