Kelly's Korner

In the beginning of the school year the 8th grade students had the privilege to begin their journey into Confirmation.  From the moment they were baptized they have been a part of the life of a congregation.  In the beginning of the curriculum "We Believe" it is stated "Your congregation is a covenant community that has been called together by God and that believes God's promise: "I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you shall be my people." (Leviticus 26:12)  As members of the congregation, you promise to be faithful to God by being a relay team for the faith, where you pass the baton of faith on to these young people who now take up the challenge of the race.  As one of the confirmands said in her statement of faith, "this is just the beginning of my journey".  On Sunday we welcome 16 of the finest young people into membership of our church, although many of been a part of APC since birth, this is their time to profess what they believe and to pick up the baton and run!   May God bless them on their journey as they grow together in the race and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

      Memorial Garden

Have you seen our memorial garden lately?

It's gloriously beautiful, and a bit off our normal Sunday route, but worth a trip. Walk out there. Learn more. Brochures are available describing its purpose and use.

Haiti Mission Trip

Mark your calendar now and prepare to be challenged and blessed on a Mission Trip to Haiti and the nearby island of La Gonāve.  On this Adult Mission Trip, September 20-26, 2013, we will fly to Port-au-Prince and the following day, take a ferry to La Gonāve.  There we will meet fellow Haitian Christians in the small rural community of Ticotelette.  A year ago, three APC members visited and felt called to the needs of this specific community. Upon their return, they recommended that we partner with the church and school of Holy Innocents in this place.

Since then several exciting things have happened to make a real difference in the lives of our sister church.  APC mission funds are now starting to pay teachers' salaries so children up to grade 6 can get an education. The generous gifts from our APC Alternative Christmas fair provided funds to repair the damaged cistern. Once again the cistern can capture and hold rain water so children can have water during school hours. Also, an APC donor provided a motorcycle so the principal will now have a 2 hour commute instead of an 8 hour walking commute.

We will meet and build relationships with fellow Christians in Ticotelette and also undertake several hands on projects together during our trip. Youth age 14 and older accompanied by a parent are invited to join us. Trip cost will be around $1,200 to $1,300. APC member Sydney Schneider will lead the trip. For questions/sign-up, contact Sydney Schneider at 770-664-0942 or

Link for impressions from APC's Oct. 2012 trip  and other partnership activities.  Stay tuned for the first introductory meeting in May when you can learn more so that you can decide if God is calling you to this place at this time.

Safety & Security

APC has a Safety and Security Task Force that is currently studying ways to improve procedural and building security. The task force is being chaired by Brian Moore and hopes to present recommendations to Session this summer. To share a concern or idea, please contact Ollie Wagner.

Sunday Flowers

The 2013 Flower Donation Chart is now up! APC members and friends are invited to donate flowers to beautify our sanctuary on Sunday mornings. The flowers may be placed in memory or honor of  loved ones, or to mark a special occasion such as an anniversary, birthday or baptism. As many as three donors may participate on any given Sunday. The cost for each donor is $65. Our deacons take the flowers to homebound members after the service. The Flower Donation Chart is located outside the church office. Please complete a yellow form when you sign up and return it with your check to the church office.
