Jamie's Jottings

I DO and I WILL

We look forward to welcoming new members at APC this Sunday, February 24 at 8:30 and 11:00am. Over the past three weeks, 37 adults have gathered in the theater to learn more about basic Christian beliefs, the Presbyterian tradition, and the ministries of this congregation. During worship this Sunday, the new members and their 26 children and youth, will come forward  to answer questions on membership, to reaffirm or profess their faith, and to join in this church family. The seated congregation will also answer a few questions, as they commit to journeying with these new members in faith, and to welcoming them at APC. Whether you are a new or long-standing member, this Sunday is a wonderful opportunity for you to give witness to your faith in Christ and to vocalize your commitment to this congregation. I am grateful to God for the movement of the Spirit in each of you. See you Sunday!

Blessings,

Jamie

APC Staff Transition

Chuck Watson has served as our property manager since 2007 and will work his last day with us on March 1, 2013.  The facility and grounds of APC are great blessings to the congregation and community.  We have a wonderful location and our meeting space is as functional as it is beautiful.  It certainly is heavily-used! The Property Ccommittee of the Session coordinates the use, upkeep and readiness of the facility and as our property manager Chuck has carried out that work Monday-Friday during the day.

Chuck will be leaving APC to take a similar position at Johns Creek Baptist Church, a congregation of 4,000 members with a very large facility.  Please extend your thanks to Chuck for his faithful service in our midst and add your prayers for him and his family in this transition. Our personnel committee is currently taking steps to secure an interim manager to bridge the gap until a search is conducted to bring in a new property manager to APC.

New Member Reception
We will have a New Member Reception this Sunday.  Please join us in Fellowship Hall immediately after the 11:00 service for a reception hosted by the deacons to introduce our new members that will join at the 8:30 and 11:00 service. Light refreshments will be served. It's a great time to meet the new members and catch up with old friends.

Check Out the Niches

You are invited to view the new installation in the niches.  Six crosses of designs with different symbolic, historical and liturgical significance are installed.  Explanations of these meanings are posted on the wall adjacent to each niche.  Thanks go to Don Poling, Molly Elkind's father, for crafting these.

Congregational Meeting

There will be a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, March 3 immediately following the 11:00 service in the sanctuary for the purpose of meeting as a corporation, receiving the 2012 Annual Report, receiving the 2012 year end financial report and the 2013 budget, and approving changes in the pastors' Terms of Call.

Sunday Breakfast

On March 3 we will have a Continental Breakfast in Fellowship Hall rather than our regular Sunday Morning Breakfast. The Continental Breakfast will be from 7:30 until 9:30 AM.  After 9:30 preparations will begin in Fellowship Hall for the College of Elders' Luncheon.

Guest Preacher

This Sunday, we look forward to welcoming Rev. Dr. Phil Ott to the pulpit for our 9:50am service. Phil is a retired United Methodist minister whose career has been in higher education.
