Greetings!
After a year of planning, the time is at hand. As I wrap up this newsletter, it is the eve of departure for the "trip of a lifetime," a 7-day motorized whitewater rafting trip on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon! And, if that wasn't nifty enough, it's a private charter comprised of close, talented women friends, with just about one degree of separation between any of us.

Whitewater adventure to come September 3rd!
|
I love water and the thrill of whitewater, and have been wanting to do this trip for 30+ years, yet never thought of it as a bucket list item. But others have labeled it that way, and with the Big 6-0 birthday having recently passed, I guess perhaps that's a propos (I recently decided to watch the movie again). In any case, I've been told by others who've gone through this adventure that it will be a transformational experience, and I will not return the same person. Wow, what a year of transformation: first Landmark, now this. Who knew?!
I do know that, upon my return, I will be stepping into some big changes that I've already put into motion regarding my business life and living style. But I really don't know how they will actually play out and it'll be interesting to see how I handle what unfolds as the new me. I'm excited about it all.
We have come into this life with a purpose and with a plan, and my philosophy has always been that we were meant to be happy. Joy and happiness come with waking up, nourishing our soul, and experiencing the myriad of adventures and relationships life on Planet Earth offers. These days I really 'get' that it is up to moi to create and make my life rich. Whether I draft a bucket list or not, I am committed to living a full and meaningful life from here on in, and to be more open than ever to change. I wish that you too will feel in every cell of your being the power, creativity, and freedom to be all that you can be in this lifetime.
For now, bon voyage!
Blessings,

Spiritual/Personal
'Stuff', Just 'Stuff'
The story that follows made me think of when I was living in Santa Fe, NM and the disastrous Cerro Grande Fire occurred in May 2000. The fire started as a controlled burn, and became uncontrolled due to high winds and drought conditions. 400+ families in the town of Los Alamos lost their homes, and some structures at Los Alamos National Laboratory were destroyed or damaged; amazingly, there was no loss of human life.
Besides breathing in the smoke down south in Santa Fe, I was impacted by the stories of people telling about the possessions they'd chosen to take with them when they had to hastily evacuate. It made me (and many others I know) think about what was really most important in life when push comes to shove.
This story also made me think of a time during my earlier years here in Sedona when my then-husband and I found ourselves at bottom financially. We moved into someone's furnished basement for a month, but first had to choose what to take with us for our daily lives and our business, and what to store - what a powerful 'ah-ha!' It's amazing how much 'stuff' we can live without. It's equally amazing how we can let our 'stuff' rule our lives if we don't stay conscious.
Here's the August 10, 2015 Daily Guideposts story of Ashley Wiersma from Monument, Colorado.
"Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself..." - Matthew 6:34 (NIV)
A forest fire that had been raging several miles away for days had jumped two parallel canyons and now threatened countless neighborhood homes. From our patio, I stood with the neck of my T-shirt pulled over my mouth in an attempt to filter the smoke in the air and stared at ...

People Helping People
Hero of the Day: Kentucky Police Officer John Nissen
Shonda Barlow Garner recently sent the following message and photograph to the Hillview, KY Police Department' s Facebook page. Sometimes the very people you least expect to care are the ones who will.Yesterday, my sister Barbie Henderson was on her way back home to Clarksville, Tennessee from Louisville after visiting with family. As she was driving, she received that call we all dread, a loved one crying. You automatically know something awful has happened. With tears in her eyes and holding the phone, she managed to turn the car around and head back to Louisville. She actually hadn't driven very far and was at the Brooks exit. As her speed increased, she was stopped by an officer from Hillview and that is where the blessing began.Officer Nissen was more than an officer yesterday. He was a person with a heart to understand this was a lady who just lost her sister and heard the news over the phone. From there on he took care of my sister. As she cried, he listened to her and wiped away her tears. He made sure she drank water as it was extremely hot outside, and he spoke to the family on the phone each time we called until my arrival. When I arrived he wasn't standing on the side of the car. He was seated right next to her just as we would've been while she was grieving. What an awesome guy!!!!

Adding Multiple Tags to Contacts in a Spreadsheet File
You can import a spreadsheet of your contacts and easily include several tags for each individual. Here's what you'll need to do:
- Designate a single column to include all your tags
- Separate each tags with commas
- Make sure the tags are spelled the same way in your spreadsheet as they are in your Constant Contact account
Here's an example of how a file where multiple tags are being stored for a single contact might look: In the example above, Paul will be tagged with the keywords of "Dogs" and "Cats," Christopher will be tagged with "Cats," etc. Once you have the file set up with the tags you need, you can import the file for easy additions or updates to your Contact Contact list(s).

Website Development/WordPress
Billie Holiday and WordPress
In case you weren't aware, Matt Mullenweg, the founder of the company behind WordPress ( Automattic), is a jazz fan, and, in fact, studied jazz saxophone at Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Hence, when updates are made to self-hosted WordPress, each version is named in honor of a jazz musician - such fun in business! Version 4.3 of WordPress, now available for download or update in your WordPress dashboard, is named "Billie" in honor of jazz singer Billie Holiday. I think one of the niftiest updates included in this version is the addition of formatting shortcuts. Now you can use asterisks (*) to create lists and number signs (#) to make a heading. Some of the other features are:
- Menus in the Customizer
- Site icons
- Better passwords

Joyce "came to believe" in a Power greater than herself about 25 years ago. Thanks to hearing the novel idea that one could choose their own concept of God - and name too - and the workings of synchronicity, Joyce embarked on a new way of thinking, a new way of living, a new way of being in the world and with others. Since that time of commencing her conscious spiritual journey, she has endeavored to remember The Presence in all that is, all whom she meets, and all that she does - including working with others and helping to empower them as she provides solutions for their computer projects and business and marketing needs.
