Hi - it's that time of the month again :)

Well, the two events I was involved in which I mentioned in last month's newsletter - Getting Started with Constant Contact Newsletter Campaigns Class and the Mary Magdalene Celebration Sedona - were both a success! How do I mean "success"? Attendance was good, presenters were really good, learning and connecting with others was great!

As far as upcoming events...
  • Registration for the August interactive, hands-on workshops to empower you to create and control your own WordPress website is already open and most of the limited amount of seats are already taken. To learn more/register, visit Websites and Coffee. Remember, I can always add another workshop that is convenient for your schedule if you and at least one friend/colleague want to commit to a date. Contact me and let's "tawk"!
  • On a more personal note, I'm most excited to be going on my first road trip in many moons this coming weekend. To celebrate our recent birthdays, my dear friend Vicky and I are heading north to Canyon de Chelly. And, we've got a jeep tour scheduled so we can actually get onto the canyon floor, which is fun in and of itself!

I've also got some other trips lining up and am most excited to be traveling again and spending time away from my computer, having fun with dear friends.

I hope you are getting your soul nourished too, participating in meaningful activities, surrounded by loved ones.

Blessings,

Spiritual/Personal
"Not Yet"

If you've been following me for a while, you probably know that one way I get spiritually fed is by reading the stories in Daily Guideposts. I'm re-reading the 2011 edition - here's one from July of that year, but the wisdom in it is timeless.

"For with God nothing shall be impossible. - Luke 1:37

Going through yet another long-unopened box in the attic as my husband John and I prepared to leave our home of fifty years, I came upon an old photo album, leather binding cracked and discolored. In capital letters on the first page, in my own handwriting, were the words "CAR TRIP TO YELLOWSTONE."

The next page held some faded photographs of various stops in Pennsylvania and Ohio. But there John came down with excruciating shingles, and we didn't make it to Yellowstone. Now, doubtless, we never would.

But that's not what I said to myself. Years ago while visiting my sister in Djakarta, I learned a wonderful word...

Website Development/WordPress
Parts of Your Self-hosted WordPress Website

There are two parts to your self-hosted (wordpress.org platform) WordPress website, the files and the database.

Your WordPress site consists of the following files:
  • WordPress Core Installation
  • WordPress Plugins
  • WordPress Themes
  • Images and Files
  • JavaScript and PHP scripts, and other code files
  • Additional files and static web pages

Everything that has anything to do with the look and feel of your site is in a file somewhere. For instance, your own user-generated content, such as edited themes, new plugins, and uploaded files are in the directory called wp-content.

Your WordPress database contains every post, every comment and every link you have on your blog. The database and the relations between the tables within it are created during the WordPress standard installation. Because WordPress interfaces with this database by itself, you as an end user, shouldn't have to worry about its structure. Currently, the official WordPress distribution only supports the MySQL database engine.

For more information about self-hosted WordPress, visit the website of Wordpress.org. It is a fabulous way to learn more about WordPress as well as submit questions and issues to the forum.

As always, wishing you Happy WordPressing!

bottomgodwordJoyce "came to believe" in a Power greater than herself about 24 years ago. Thanks to hearing the novel idea that one could choose their own concept of God - and name too - and the workings of synchronicity, Joyce embarked on a new way of thinking, a new way of living, a new way of being in the world and with others. Since that time of commencing her conscious spiritual journey, she has endeavored to remember The Presence in all that is, all whom she meets, and all that she does - including working with others and their computer and marketing projects!
