"To be grateful is to recognize the Love of God in everything He has given us - and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every moment of existence is a grace, for it brings with it immense graces from Him.

Gratitude therefore takes nothing for granted, is never unresponsive, is constantly awakening to new wonder and to praise of the goodness of God. For the grateful person knows that God is good, not by hearsay but by experience. And that is what makes all the difference."

When I was a devout atheist, the Thanksgiving holiday was mostly about food. As far as I was concerned, I - moi - was the one to thank for whatever was in my life! This was my belief into my early 30's. But soon upon entering the rooms of recovery and having a spiritual awakening, I came to believe in a power greater than myself. From thereon my entire philosophy about life, the world, and people changed, and I became a better human being.

These days I know it is not simply myself who has made my life what it is. I have many people, events, and things to be thankful for - all stemming from Spirit. I am most grateful to have a conscious relationship with God - as I understand The Divine - so these 20+ years since my awakening each Thanksgiving has held great spiritual significance and meaning for me. In addition, I find doing service on this day feels like an extra sacred expression to Spirit of my gratitude.

This year I'm excited to finally get to be of service at an annual Thanksgiving Day meal that one of the local Sedona civic organizations offers to the entire community gratis. I've been assigned to clear tables and serve beverages, and will do so most joyfully and gratefully. Then it's off to celebrate with friends for whom I am most grateful and who contribute to making my life rich, and who also hold Spirit and gratitude in their heart on a daily basis. This would sure be a great day to be cloned so that I could be with the myriad of people for whom I am grateful!

Yep, these days I KNOW Thanksgiving Day is not just about me... and to have reached that knowledge traveling on this spiritual journey, I am most grateful.

Hushmail (Secure Email)

Sending a regular email is like sending a postcard - it may be read by any number of people before reaching its recipient(s). A secure email is like sending a letter in a sealed envelope - it can only be read by the sender and intended recipient(s).

Every day people around the world send millions of emails. Many of these are transmitted without using any form of encryption. When you send an email without using encryption it can potentially be monitored, logged, analyzed and stored by your employer, your Internet Service Provider, and other parties.

I don't know about you, but I cherish the basic human right to privacy. So I was excited when I recently learned about Hushmail. Established in 1999, it is a privacy-oriented email service.

Hushmail is web-based, like Gmail and Yahoo! for instance, so you can read and compose email on the Web using your computer or mobile device. However, unlike Gmail and the gang, Hushmail does not sell third-party advertising, so they don't scan your emails. Conversations between Hushmail members are stored using encryption.

You can get a free account with 25 MB storage. To learn more, visit hushmail.com.

Improved Constant Contact Experience

Constant Contact has been implementing enhancements to contact management and reporting. Here's a sample of what they've been up to.
  • Easier to View Contacts and Email Lists - The most important information is now right at your fingertips. Choose an email list or status on the left-hand side of your Contacts page and all of the contacts in that group come up on the right-hand side.
  • No Email Address Needed - Now you can add all your contacts, whether they have an email address or not. It's great for capturing leads or prospects!
  • Multiple Email Addresses for Contacts - Want to record both the work and home email addresses for a contact? No problem! Record and send to up to five email addresses for a single contact.
  • Easier Searches - The new search lets you type in keywords - no drop-downs or fields to choose.
  • Contact Growth Report - See where your new contacts are coming from.
  • Unopened Emails - Find out who didn't open your last email in a single report.

Signs Your Web Person Knows Nothing About SEO

While I develop and build WordPress websites, and coach clients too, I'm always quick to say I am not an SEO (Search Engine Optimization) expert. I know it's a full time job, and it's not where I want to put my focus. Yes, I can offer suggestions in how to optimize your website - read this. And, I have a bit of knowledge about SEO, and I use a plugin to enhance SEO in WordPress sites. Employing this plugin also educates me as I use it - and it's fun too! I also know that SEO needs to be considered from the very beginning of the web design project. But, again, I'm no SEO expert. Unfortunately, there are many web designers and developers who know nothing about SEO, but claim to.

I came across a post about when you're choosing a web designer and are checking to see if they know anything about SEO that, while a bit dated, makes good points that are still valid.

I'd say that the quickest way you can determine if your web designer really knows about SEO is if when you start querying them about SEO concerns, they say any of the following:
  • "SEO can be done effectively after the design process is completed."
  • "SEO is easy. We do it...

"With gratitude, I affirm the power, peace, and energy of Infinite Spirit flowing through me now, and I am blessed." - Excerpt from Daily Word, Sunday,  November 24, 2013.

Every day, and particularly on Thanksgiving Day, may you find much to be thankful for, and know you are blessed. Even if we've never connected live other than through this e-newsletter, I thank you for being in my life, and sharing the journey.

Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Yours in Spirit,

bottomgodwordJoyce "came to believe" in a Higher Power about 23 years ago. Thanks to hearing the novel idea that one could choose their own concept of God - and name too - and the workings of synchronicity, Joyce embarked on a new way of thinking, a new way of living, a new way of being in the world and with others. Since that time of commencing her conscious spiritual journey, she has endeavored to remember The Presence in all that is, all whom she meets, and all that she does - including working with others and their computer projects!
