Vol. 2, Issue 8 | August 2013

Greetings!
August have been remarkably different for me and such like I've not experienced in many years. Activities have been at a snail's pace in many realms - business, social, and administration. It's all very interesting - and I'm sure with a grand purpose. I think Spirit has given me this time of slowing down for a number of reasons... To take a break and play alone; to dream; to contemplate my life, what to do with it, how to serve, etc. It's been a bit like a kid on summer break - and now that the summer is winding down, life is gearing up big time! My schedule for September is rapidly getting booked up, and I'm excited about what Life has in store for this next month. So, tell me, how's your summer been?
Blessings,

Spiritual/Personal
When I Walk... Years ago when I lived in Santa Fe, I rode a stationary exercise bike in my bedroom. Since I wasn't passionate about cycling, I wanted to come up with another activity I could combine it with, to feel like I'd made 'better use' of my time. It was difficult to read while cycling, and one day I was inspired to pray for people, whoever popped into my head. It became a wonderful practice, and I felt

that not only was I getting much needed physical exercise, but spiritual exercise as well. It connected me to Spirit, and to others - and boy, did the time fly! My spiritual teacher at the time likened it to a Buddha wheel. Well, these days, I enjoy walking around the neighborhood in the morning, taking in the Red Rocks, observing changes in the landscape, and greeting the animals as they begin stirring for the day. Once again I've gotten into the practice of blessing individuals as I go about my physical workout. I so look forward to my walk... this practice is truly a joy for me, and I know it is also wonderful service. I am blessed as I bless others. And, yes, once again the time flies by. Spirit is with us always, wherever we are, whatever we do - a thought or prayer away. I'm grateful I am putting this awareness into practice in more and more of my usual daily activities - and being of service at the same time.

What is Web Forgery? What is Phishing?
Web forgery (also known as "phishing") is a form of identity theft that occurs when a malicious website impersonates a legitimate one in order to trick you into giving up sensitive information such as passwords, account details, or credit card numbers. Phishing attacks usually come from email messages that attempt to lure the recipient into updating their personal information on fake, but very real looking, websites. How to Avoid Phishing ScamsThe number and sophistication of phishing scams sent out to consumers is continuing to increase dramatically. The Anti-Phishing Working Group has compiled a list of recommendations that you can use to avoid becoming a victim of these scams: - Be suspicious of any email with urgent requests for personal financial information.
- Don't use the links in an email, instant message, or chat to get to any web page if you suspect the message might not be authentic or you don't know the sender or user's handle.
- Avoid filling out forms in email messages that ask for personal financial information.
- Always ensure that you're using a secure website when submitting credit card or other sensitive information via your Web browser.
- Get in the habit of looking at the address line in the browser. For instance, were you directed to PayPal, but the address line displays something like "hxxp://www.gotyouscammed.com/paypal/login.htm?"
For more specific suggestions on how to avoid phishing scams, visit the Anti-Phishing Working Group.

Mistakes in Creating Email Content
Everything from colors, to images, to indentation all play a role in whether someone will read your email or banish it to the Junk or spam folder. A poor email can also reflect badly on your organization, because it can make you look unprofessional. Here are some mistakes in creating email content to avoid in order to encourage your reader to keep coming back (and with great gusto!). Don't... Neglect acknowledging the reader. If you rush right into an email without saying "Hello," then it seems like you don't appreciate the people on your contact list. There's also a chance they won't remember why they're receiving the newsletter. Constant Contact has a Greeting option that will automatically greet a contact by name when he or she receives an email, which can help personalize each newsletter. Don't... Put space in the wrong places. White space can help make an email feel less cluttered, but if it's aligned incorrectly, then you create a lopsided email that's confusing and hard to navigate. The key is...

Website Development/WordPress
WordPress Version 3.6
The latest version of WordPress was released earlier this month, as expected and revealed to us at WordCamp San Francisco in late July. And, as Matt Mullenweg, co-founder of WordPress, had hoped, the Twenty Thirteen default WordPress theme is actually out in 2013! [Historically, default themes haven't made it out of the gate until after the year had passed!] The new theme, inspired by modern art, puts focus on your content with a colorful, single-column design made for media-rich blogging. Version 3.6 also includes:
- A revamped Revision Browser that saves every change and allows you to scroll easily through changes to see line-by-line who changed what and when.
- Post locking and augmented Autosave that is especially helpful when more than one person is working on a post. Each author now has their own autosave stream, and there's an interface for taking over editing of a post.
- A built-in HTML5 media player for native audio and video embeds with no reliance on external services.
- An improved Menu Editor that is easier to understand and use.
Watch a fun video that shows off some of the new features; you can also find info on the About page in your WordPress dashboard after you upgrade. As always, Happy WordPressing!

Joyce "came to believe" in a Higher Power about 23 years ago. Thanks to hearing the novel idea that one could choose their own concept of God, and the workings of synchronicity, Joyce embarked on a new way of thinking, a new way of living, a new way of being in the world and with others. Since that time of commencing her conscious spiritual journey, she has endeavored to remember The Presence in all that is, all whom she meets, and all that she does - including working with others and their computer projects!
