Inspiration & Contemplation
"In essence, spirituality is simply living with the intention to realize God in every circumstance of your being - your thoughts, emotions, words, deeds, relations, aspirations - in short, the totality of your life, right to its very end."

Drop Shadow Accent Image

Greetings!

Hurricane Sandy has wreaked its havoc and once again provided another opportunity for people to contemplate what's really important in life as only crises seem to do for many human beings.

I grew up and lived in New York City for 41 years and have many friends and some relatives there and along the East Coast, so I have been reading and watching with great interest the unfolding of events.

My prayers go out to all those going through the challenges of such an ordeal and the rebuilding. And, my hope is that with the long recovery ahead, folks will retain the spirit of service, caring, and concern for their fellows and bring those qualities into the future, sharing their light that will uplift all.

Blessings,

Spiritual/Personal
"Oh, God!"
Perhaps you're familiar with the 1977 movie "Oh, God!" starring George Burns and John Denver, based on the novel by Avery Corman. The story centers on unassuming supermarket manager Jerry Landers (Denver), chosen by God (Burns) to spread his message, despite the skepticism of the media, religious authorities, and Landers' wife (Teri Garr).

Although I was a John Denver fan at that time, I had not been interested in the movie because in those days I was a 'devout' atheist. So these many years later, after much personal and spiritual growth, I recently watched it for the first time with Unity friends.

I was amazed at the messages that were relayed in this movie 35 years ago and at the courage and awareness of the author, and all others who chose to be involved in this project. The material is spiritual, not religious, and thought-provoking. God's messages then, as now, are timeless.

Here are some memorable quotes:

God: Why is it so hard for you to believe? Is my physical existence any more improbable than your own? What about all that hoo-ha with the devil awhile ago from that movie? Nobody had any problem believing that the devil took over and existed in a little girl. All she had to do was wet the rug, throw up some pea soup and everybody believed. The devil you could believe, but not God? I work in my own way. I don't, I don't get inside little children; they got enough to do just being themselves. Read more....

Conversely, a 'growing' font!
Shrinking Font

I was recently rushing around my keyboard in the midst of composing an email and inadvertently hit some combination of keys.

Uh-oh. The formatting on the outgoing email shrunk: the font size still showed '11', but the body of the email had shrunk. Highlighting the text and changing the font size didn't help.

Turned out it was the Zoom!

Here's the remedy if it happens to you: either hold down the CTRL key and simultaneously roll the mouse wheel, or find the Zoom button on the toolbar and reset it.

e-Holiday Party Adventure
Email marketing was developed with businesses in mind to make it easy for them to connect with customers, and for customers to share their message with their networks. But what's to say you can't use it for your personal means? Nothing, absolutely nothing.

e-newsletter season's greetings With Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas, and New Years just around the bend, Constant Contact e-newsletters are the fun, efficient, and inexpensive way to send holiday greetings across the globe. Holiday templates abound to make your message look professional, and you can add family photos to add a personal touch. Leave the drudgery of writing out scores of greeting cards and addressing envelopes by hand one-by-one behind, and get on the Constant Contact bandwagon!

If you live in the Verde Valley area or plan to visit, I'll be hosting several parties for us to gather together in a small group, sip cider, munch on holiday cookies, AND create your very own e-greeting with my coaching. Receive a 60-day Constant Contact trial account* (your first gift of the holiday season!), have fun, learn, network, and get your card writing out of the way in plenty of time to enjoy other aspects of the season. And, you'll even be able to find out who opened your greeting!

Space is limited, so even though there is no fee - except to bring some of your favorite holiday treats to share - please register ASAP. Click here for more info and to register for the Wednesday, November 14th gathering.

If you are unable to attend, please contact me to set up your trial account, and arrange for a free one-hour of coaching so that you too can take advantage of fun, inexpensive, and efficient holiday greetings to connect with friends, family, and colleagues.

I look forward to hearing from you. And, speaking of holidays, Happy Halloween!

Website Development/WordPress
WordPress Themes
WordPress theme Since there are so many WordPress themes available and it's so easy to change them, it's tempting to jump right in and start searching for the "perfect theme."

However, because there are so many themes, and so many different types of themes, searching for one - while fun - eats up a lot of one's time. And, soon you realize that you don't understand much of the language being used, i.e., framework, child theme, CMS theme.

Also, you'll notice that themes, depending on the developer, can differ in Admin pages, layout options, color options, features (i.e., post types, sliders), level of support, etc.

So, even if you do find a theme that you think is just the right one, you'll never be quite sure it has everything you need. If you start your website building adventure by selecting the theme first, you can't possibly know what it is you really need.

Never start with the theme. Read more...

Basic Architecture
With reference to the aforementioned, in November we are offering a new workshop, "Basic WordPress Architecture." Rog and I will help you understand each part of your website and how to use it to tell your story and deliver your message effectively. Then, we'll strategize a basic structure to set up your WordPress website and bring yourself to market.

Visit our Websites and Coffee website to learn more about this new offering, as well as other workshops that empower you and your business to provide value and grow relationships. And, remember, we offer customized workshops as well as private coaching, so contact us for personalized attention. You are not alone.

It's been another busy month for Rog and me, taking steps to bring our Websites and Coffee series to the Flagstaff area, as well as working on completing our Choosing Joy for Your Wedding e-book series and offering workshops for brides and grooms.

We so enjoy connecting with people and being of service, whether it's through something seemingly impersonal as computer technology or as exciting and filled with love as weddings.

Here's to making the choice for joy!

bottomgodwordJoyce "came to believe" in a Higher Power about 22 years ago.  Thanks to hearing the novel idea that one could choose their own concept of God, and the workings of synchronicity, Joyce embarked on a new way of thinking, a new way of living, a new way of being in the world and with others.  Since that time of commencing her conscious spiritual journey, she has endeavored to remember The Presence in all that is, all whom she meets, and all that she does - including working with others and their computer projects!
