Kildeer Only Police Patch IRS Telephone Scam - Beware

The Kildeer Police Department urges you to be on the lookout for a phone scam involving claims that you owe money to the Internal Revenue Service.  Scammers will try to get you to make an immediate payment by credit or debit card.  Scammers may threaten you with arrest, deportation or revocation of your driver's license.  The scam may seem authentic at first since the caller  may provide you with a name, badge number, and real IRS telephone number.  The caller may even know the last four digits of your social security number.  Any claim that involves a request for immediate  payment is a fake.

Report any fake contact you may receive by calling the Treasury Inspector General at 1-800-366-4484.
