Here is what happened week 6:
Pump Up the Volume!
Dear Camp Families,

Pump Up The Volume Week was an exciting week filled with Uncle Moe's annual Fishing Tournament, the Aladdin Pirate Adventure, the Rock Ridge Cup Games Part II, the Genie Jamboree, A Trip to the Phillies Game for the Jr/Sr/Grads, the Official Bunk Plaque Presentations, which will be hung in the cabins for decades to come, and finally we wrapped it all up with the entire Sesame division along with the girls of Rockwood performing their Bunk Skits! The Boys of Rockwood challenged themselves too, the always exciting, Charlie Browns Pumpkin Patch Relay.

The countdown is on...sometime during We've Got Spirit ...(Yes We Do Week), Color War 2017 will break and the games will begin. During this week, most of the camp's regular activities will be on hold. The campers (divided into team colors) compete in swim events, athletic events and track and field events. This exciting and spirited few days are a highlight of the summer.

We take pride in having your child(ren) with us during the summer and appreciate your kind words about the programs.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Week Six
It is hard to believe that six weeks have flown by already! The afternoons have been filled with fun in the sun down at the pool! This past week we really focused on our instructional swim (TEAM Swim). As a result, we had lots of campers advancing in our American Red Cross swim program.

Does your camper need a new level or deep water band? Not a problem! Just have your camper come see us during TEAM or Fun swim and we will be happy to replace the band.

We can't wait to see what weeks 7 and 8 have in store for us at the pool!

Week 6

Week 6 was a hot one but that doesn't seem to be slowing down the campers. This week the Senior and CIT Club will continue to enjoy the high traverse. The Junior, Sophomore, and Freshman Clubs have been enjoying the mid level traverse as well as many other elements on our Adventure Course.

Our GIANT Zip line has been getting a real work out. Campers must first climb our 30 foot tower, then they get to ride the zip line across the far side of camp. For those that find the tower to extreme, we still have two other zip lines for our campers to enjoy!

With over 20 elements at the ropes course our campers can't wait for their weekly visit to the Adventure Course. For those campers who can't get enough during their weekly visit there are still more opportunities available in Clubs in the next few weeks.

What is Swimmer's Ear?

Swimmer's ear is an infection of the lining of the outer ear canal.  This common infection usually happens when water gets trapped in the ear canal, eroding the skin's protective lining, and making it a good place for bacteria to grow.

Signs and Symptoms

Symptoms usually start with itching of the ear.  As it progresses, it can cause ear pain and tenderness.  If you child's pain gets worse when they chew or when you gently pull on the earlobe, he or she probably has swimmers ear.  (Moving the outside of the ear does not bother children with infections of the  middle ear).   Swimmer's ear is not contagious.

Treatment

Warm compresses and ibuprofen usually help relieve symptoms but the child will usually need a prescription ear drop from their physician.  Swimming may need to be avoided until symptoms are resolved.

Any questions please feel free to contact the Health Center.
