Here is what happened week 6:
Time Traveler!
|
Dear Camp Families,
We have had great weather this week to celebrate "Time Travel". It was a fun filled week packed with super activities and events:
The Aladdins enjoyed their buried treasure hunt around camp during their Aladdin Pirate Adventure. We visited and Won the RockRidge Athletic Games at our sister camp Diamond Ridge. Wednesday was our Decades Dress-up Day with some fantastic costumes. The Sinbads had a blast at their Late Night Supper Club on Thursday and we wrapped it up today with our always funny, Annual Staff Variety Show and 2014 Bunk Plaque Presentations.
Next week is Color War 2014! Good Luck Campers and Staff. Stay tuned for the highlights.
Regards,
The 2015 Camper Enrollment Kick-Off
Earlier this week, all our camp families received the 2015 Early Enrollment Incentive Program information for either Sesame/Rockwood Camps or Rockwood Adventures Teen Travel.
This is the time to lock in the early rate and at the same time guarantee the ideal bunk placement for your child(ren) with friends. Simply complete the ENROLLMENT FORM and send it along with a $300 deposit by the last day of the season on August 15, 2014.
You have our assurance that all deposits are 100% guaranteed refundable (the only camp that provides this) until May 1, 2015. So you do not have to worry at all as to how many weeks you choose, since any program can be changed without penalty. The reserved space in the bunk is what's important.
We thank you for the trust you have in us as well as a sincere appreciation for the business.

RockRidge Games
We had a fantastic finish at Diamond Ridge. After Rockwood claimed three victories in Week 4, Diamond Ridge fought back furiously to tie with Rockwood 3 to 3. Both sides needed one final win to come out on top. Finally, after a close match, Rockwood's Basketball team emerged victorious!
Congratulations to all the Rockwood Campers who participated in the RockRidge Games! Sesame/Rockwood brought home the Trophy for the
third year in a row and defeated our sister camp, Diamond Ridge, in Jamison, PA.

Genies and Aladdins
Week Six
Over the last two weeks the Genies and Aladdins continued to do what they do best... love life!!! They march from activity to activity on their busy schedules, anticipating the fun that awaits them. At the pool complex it is amazing to watch these young campers advance their skills. They even slide down the giant slide... way to go little ones!!!!

In the Rec Barn, I see little faces carefully working with paintbrushes, beads and clay to create masterpieces that they are so proud of and eager to to share with the people that they love.
This week brought the annual Aladdin Pirate Adventure. Captain Rocket (of aquatic staff fame,) donned pirate attire to begin the traditional treasure hunt. In scavenger hunt style, Aladdin bunks used color-coded treasure maps to find treasures left behind by pirates long ago. Ask you Aladdin just what was uncovered at the end of the hunt!!!
Together with the daily fun of camp... these events are what make wonderful camp memories!

Sultans
Week Six
What an exciting week we had in the Sultan division!
A Prehistoric Hunt on Tuesday had the campers on a look out for dinosaurs! My Sultans are so smart they informed me that dinosaurs are extinct.
Wednesday we became Super Scientists. With the help of with the always informative and fun Professor Bob the Sultans made their own polymer. They loved mixing and measuring the ingredients they needed and
were so proud of themselves with the results. Friday was packed with excitement as the Sultans watched some of their counselors perform in the Staff Variety Show. Also on Friday, the bunks presented their plaques to Uncle Howard and Aunt Dale. The campers enjoyed seeing their plaques that their counselors worked so diligently on to commemorate their summer as Sultans. The plaques will hang in their cabins. The campers always enjoy coming back and looking at them as they move on to older divisions. As always, the Sultans continue to have fun in their activities. They amaze me with the many bulls eyes they are achieving in archery and so many are passing to level 4 in our swim program. Way to go Sultans!!! So proud of them!

Sinbads
Week Six
Sinbad Secret Society has been so busy at camp enjoying the gorgeous weather we've been having. Some of our favorite activities are Choice (were the campers get to choose their favorite activities) and Gaga. We're proud of ourselves for participating in the 5K Run. Some of us even made it a 6K and 7K. We're that awesome. Our bunk skits were tremendous. The Sinbads have some serious dancing skills. With Color War coming up, the excitement is palpable!

Our WonderKey School is a fully accredited pre-school for children 2 through 5 years of age, where wonderful learning takes place. In a warm and nurturing environment, our young students benefit from excellent early learning experiences. The best part is that all of this takes place right here at camp where we can take full advantage of all that camp has to offer. Most members of WonderKey faculty are familiar camp faces; we even get to see Uncle Howard and Aunt Dale throughout the school year! Our school participates in the Keystone Stars as a childcare provider. We exceed State Health & Safety licensing requirements.
If you would like more information or a tour of the WonderKey School, please contact our School Director Fern Helfer (Camp's Genie Director) at (610) 279-8711. Our website can be a great resource too!
The WonderKey School, now enrolling for Fall 2013, is licensed by the State of Pennsylvania of Private Academic Schools and the Department of Public Welfare and is a member of the Keystone STARS child care provider.
