Dear Camp Families,
Dear Camp Families...
Goodbyes are not forever,
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean
We'll miss you
Until we meet again.
On Friday, August 16, 2013, the 60th Anniversary of Sesame/Rockwood Camps will come to a close. As we work towards the next 60 years with excitement and enthusiasm, we can not thank you enough for the trust and confidence in our program you have given us.
We leave this summer with pride in our campers. Their sense of independence, their progress in the pools and on the fields and courts, their willingness to challenge themselves in the art studios and at the ropes course, all of these lead to a lifetime of skills, friendships and memories. Day in and day out, the campers demonstrated kindness, respect and sportsmanship, especially during Color War (not "Days") 2013.
We wish your sons and daughters, our campers, much success whether in pre-school, elementary school, middle school and even high school. Good health and happiness to all in our extended camp families.

Color War 2013 Recap
Enthusiasm and sportsmanship were highlighted throughout last week's Color War. We are all so very proud of the campers and staff for their actions on and off the fields and pools.
From the very moment that Aunt Dale and Uncle Howard landed at camp in the blue and gold helicopter, to all of the sporting and pool events, to the Color War Sing competition and finally to the reuniting "Carry On" T-Shirt presented to the campers and staff, we all knew how special of a week it was going to be and proved that it was.
Great Job, Campers and Thank You, Staff!
A note of appreciation for the following super stars, for without them, Color War would not happen.
Color War Art Work - Jayne Sherman and Traci Tempone
Color War Booklet - Susan Pulkowski
Planning - Marge Sherman
Scheduling Events - Danny Kessler
Production - Josh Levinson
Song Lyrics - Brittany Wickham and Alexis Snyder

A Message From the Sesame Directors
This summer was off the charts when it came to special events and programming. The Genies, Aladdins, Sultans and Sinbads all enjoyed special divisional traditions such as Genie Awards Ceremony, Aladdin Derby Day Game Show, Sultan Safari and Sinbad Move Up Day. We are so proud of all our campers for everything they accomplished this summer. We wish them continued success in school this year. See you next summer! Sesame Directors - Fern Helfer Genies and Aladdins, Gwen Weintraub Sultans and Ben Anderson Sinbad |

Rockwood Adventures Teen Travel

Our last week of Rockwood Adventures Teen Travel has been off to a great start. On Monday we visited the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. We were a little disappointed that we couldn't see the pandas. The mom was on baby watch so they limited the viewing of the dad as well. After dinner we did a walking tour to see the Einstein Statue, Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, the Women's Memorial, Korean Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and ended at dusk at the World War II Memorial. The Washington Monument, surrounded by scaffolding for repairs, was lit up and looked majestic as we passed it on our way to the bus.
Tuesday the weather started out cloudy, but turned beautiful as we spent the day and early evening at Kings Dominion Amusement Park and WaterWorks Waterpark. The rides were great and the waterpark was refreshing.
Today we're back in Washington, D.C. to visit the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, tour Ford's Theatre and museums and the house where President Lincoln was taken after he was shot, eat lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, check out the International Spy Museum and visit the FDR and Jefferson Memorials.
Tomorrow we're off to Williamsburg to spend the day at Busch Gardens after dinner.
We've had a great summer on Rockwood Adventures. We hope that if your teen is age appropriate they will consider joining us next summer. Watch for details on next year's trips in early September.

A Sad Farwell
Anthony Ferraro
After 18 years of service, Anthony Ferraro is retiring from the Food Service operation and as a van driver. His smile, his good nature and his love for the campers and camp has made him an institution around here.
This coincides with his retirement as a School Bus Driver for the Radnor Schools.
We will miss him.
Cami Berg
We say goodbye at the end of August to Ms. Cami Berg. Cami has been a part of the office staff for the past 23 years. Growing up in Huntingdon Valley, Dale and I remember fondly baby-sitting Cami and her brother Michael when her parents had a date night.
Cami also attended Camp Akiba and Camp Saginaw growing up. Upon graduation from the University of Pittsburgh, Cami spent time in marketing before joining the Sesame/Rockwood Camps family.
For the years in the office, Cami over-saw the paperwork needed for our Pre-School, WonderKey. In addition to her work with The WonderKey School, Cami ran the Transportation segment of Camp. She oversaw the Trans Counselors, hired the drivers and helped plan and coordinate the various bus and van runs throughout the county and Philadelphia.
There is no one better to have handled the day in and day out of the Trans department, no matter what changes were needed to make the runs efficient.
We wish her much luck in her future endeavors and will miss her tremendously.

Our WonderKey School is a fully accredited pre-school for children 2 through 5 years of age, where wonderful learning takes place. In a warm and nurturing environment, our young students benefit from excellent early learning experiences. The best part is that all of this takes place right here at camp where we can take full advantage of all that camp has to offer. Most members of WonderKey faculty are familiar camp faces; we even get to see Uncle Howard and Aunt Dale throughout the school year! Our school participates in the Keystone Stars as a childcare provider. We exceed State Health & Safety licensing requirements.
If you would like more information or a tour of the WonderKey School, please contact our School Director Fern Helfer (Camp's Genie Director) at (610) 279-8711. Our website can be a great resource too!

Broadway Show Opportunity
