New this year, ASHI 42nd Annual Meeting will have an Immunogenetics Basic Science Symposium. This symposium is encoded by the most polymorphic genes in the human genome, HLA class I and II associate with an unprecedented range and number of human diseases, as well as with the outcome of therapeutic intervention, most notably the transplantation of cells, tissues and organs. Physiological interactions of HLA class I and II with families of variable lymphocyte receptors diversify the human immune response to infection and cancer and, in the case of natural killer cells, implantation of embryos at the beginning of pregnancy.
These subjects will be presented and discussed by experts drawn from around the world as well from the considerable talent that is resident in St Louis.
The ASHI Immunogenetics Basic Science Symposium will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 from 8:00 am - 5:30 pm. Note: This is an additional fee. Check the website for updates in regards to this exciting new program! 2016.ashi-hla.org
