Kidney Paired
Donation Survey
The American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) Scientific Studies Committee is interested in the transplant community's perceptions of and participation in Kidney Paired Donation (KPD), including how non-directed donors are utilized and potential solutions for barriers to increased participation in KPD. In order to be as inclusive as possible, ASTS would like to give ASHI an opportunity to participate. Please take time to give ASTS your input by taking their survey here. The deadline for responding to the survey is Friday, May 16th.

SGR Patch Survey
A new U.S. law called "SGR patch" contains changes to the Clinical Lab Fee Schedule (CLFS) that are intended to reduce cuts to, as well as determine and apply market-based payment for, CLFS tests. Click here and go to section 216 beginning on page 35.

The law requires laboratories to report payment and test volume data every three years (annually for "Advanced Diagnostic Laboratory Tests") or face civil penalties. Labs that introduce certain new "Advanced Diagnostic Laboratory Tests" could benefit because the bill calls for payment for these new tests to be based on the actual list charge during the initial three quarters after introduction of the new test.

If you work in a U.S. clinical laboratory that performs tests on the CLFS, the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) would appreciate your input via a survey they're conducting. AMP would like to ascertain the following:
  1. The potential impact and administrative burden of the reporting requirements of the CLFS reform provision of the new SGR patch legislation.
  2. The extent to which laboratories perform tests defined rather narrowly in the new law as "Advanced Diagnostic Laboratory Tests."
Please take a few minutes to answer the brief survey here. Your response could provide insight into some potential impacts of the new law.
