ASHI Welcomes New Editor-in-Chief for Human Immunology
Mount Laurel, Dec. 3, 2013 - The American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI), an international society of professionals dedicated to advancing the science, education and application of immunogenetics and transplant immunology, welcomes Steven J. Mack, PhD, of Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland as the new Editor-in-Chief of Human Immunology, the official journal of ASHI which is published monthly by Elsevier Science.

Dr. Mack has been a member of the Editorial Boards for Human Immunology and the International Journal of Immunogenetics, an International HLA and Immunogenetics Workshop Councilor and Project Co-chair and has published extensively in the field of population genetics.  He was selected from a field of highly competitive applicants all with impeccable credentials and each with a distinctive vision for the future of Human Immunology.  In his new role, Dr. Mack is committed to advancing immunogenetics research and to fostering the growth of ASHI as a basic and clinical research society, and will work to achieve these goals as the Editor-in-Chief of Human Immunology.  Dr. Mack explained, "This change in the leadership of the journal is an opportunity for ASHI to redefine the scope of histocompatibility and immunogenetics research and build on the core disciplines that have brought readers to Human Immunology for more than thirty years."

"I have considered how I can best serve the ASHI community as Editor-in-Chief of Human Immunology. I believe that the research scope of Human Immunology should be expanded to include:  immunogenomics, the institution of biomedical reporting guidelines and minimum information standards, the mandatory archiving of published data, and the implementation of a new manuscript format for population data.  These changes should improve both the quality of research in the ASHI community and the impact factor of Human Immunology," explained Dr. Mack.

ASHI is proud to welcome Dr. Mack as the Editor-in-Chief of Human Immunology and is confident he will help make the journal an indispensable medium for authors, readers, and for ASHI.
