Greetings!

Summer temperatures are heating up, so now is the time to get out in the garden after these few days of rain and take care of a few chores before it gets really really hot!

Mulch, mulch, mulch...! With water restrictions in effect, mulch will help hold moisture in. Remember when watering, water deep!

Fertilize....everything!!

Walk through the garden, remove spent flowers and cut back to encourage growth.

Check carefully for pests and any type of fungus. Treat now!

Watch for mosquitoes! Check and remove any standing water, repair leaking pipes and outdoor faucets, keep grass cut short and bushes trimmed. Fix holes in window and door screens. Try to avoid outdoor activity between dusk and dawn. If you are outdoors protect yourself with organic or non organic repellents. Plant in pots around patios and gathering areas natural repellent like lemon grass with mixtures of rosemary and catmint, effective and great color!

Our staff is available to assist you with all of these needs...drop by and see us!

Happy Summer! Happy Gardening!

Vitex- When You Just Don't Want A Crape Myrtle
(Tim Thompson, Retail Manager, Lake Highlands)

A large shrub or small flowering tree originating in China and India and is widely adapted to Texas. This showy tree is a great alternative to crape myrtles with blooms lasting through early fall. Vitex requires heat for best flowering so it is perfect for full sun areas or xeriscape landscaping. Can grow 6-25 feet tall and 10-20 feet wide. Full sun to partial shade and fast growth makes this purple beauty a must in any yard!  In stock now  at Brumley Gardens
