MOSQUITOES!

Get Control Now Before It is Too Late!
War on Mosquitoes Should Start Now! Mosquito Proof Your Garden!

With the rise in West Nile Virus cases last year, cities have begun spraying now to fight mosquitoes before they start. Warmer temperatures and recent rains have already started showing signs of mosquito activity.

By being educated and prepared, you can enjoy your spring and summer without the worry of mosquitoes.
Here are a few tips:
  1. Be aware of anything that is collecting water. Gutters, leaky faucets, toys, trash cans, etc. These are breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Check weekly for any areas that my be collecting water.
  2. Mosquitoes are most active at dawn, dusk and early evening. Stay indoors during that time
  3. Use repellant when outdoors. If you prefer a natural repellant, keep in mind that it needs to be re-applied more frequently.
  4. Wear light clothing. And try to wear clothing that covers the skin
  5. Having something burning while outside is a deterrent to mosquitoes

Citronella Plant- A Natural Repellant For Your Garden

Citronella Plant or Mosquito Repellant Plant carries the fragrance of citronella, not in their flowers, but from their foliage. When the leaf is rubbed on the skin, it naturally repels mosquitoes. Although it is not as effective as bottled repellents, the mosquito plant works gently, and when you grow it in your garden , it is always on hand.  Citronella Plant is an annual. It requires sun/part shade. It is drought tolerant and will grow to a height of 24-36 inches and space of 10-15" apart.

Brumley Gardens has Citronella Plants in stock at both locations
