Congratulations to John Shirley on his first marathon, Napa, and a Boston Qualifier! Here's a message from John:
"The marathon went well - perfect weather and a beautiful course. I ran it in 3:29:29, which was barely faster than my 3:30 target (which is the minimum qualifier for Boston). A little sore after the race, but not too bad. Thanks for all of your help and your great program!"

Preparing for races and training in general is so much more fun when you have a group following the same workouts and the same schedule. Injuries sometimes result from trying too many things and being pulled in too many directions. For 20 years, Team GFR Running Groups have consistently met their goals and have avoided injuries when they follow the plans.
Here are a couple more testimonials from Team GFR Alumni:
John and Susan,
"Seeing you on Sunday in Portland was such a wonderful feeling. It was so motivating and I appreciate your kindness and genuine effort to make each person feel special. This begin my first marathon, I had a lot of nervousness and anticipation of the unknown. The resources provided by what you facilitate helped me realize a dream that otherwise would have been a "someday" goal. I started running to overcome the unfortunate challenges I'd been faced with and to show my daughter that in life and in running, we ARE stronger that we think! You are a blessing to many! With abundant gratitude, Amber Gilbert"

Dear John and Susan (and entire GFR crew),
"This is just a quick note to say thank you for the support and sage advice you provided while I was training for (and running) my first marathon in Eugene last weekend.
The first time I ever ran more that 2 miles without stopping was last April. I did a short race and got hooked but didn't have many friends into it. So, whenever I had questions about clothing, nutrition, shoes, etc. you guys were there. Salem is so lucky to have a shop like yours. Thanks again, Grant Linsell
P.S. Susan, you were right about the Endurolyte! I should have taken all of them at mile 22. Maybe I could have run 3:18:00 instead of 3:22:09..."
