President John Haeger chosen as the recipient of the Shirley Agnos Arizona Town Hall Legacy Award for 2013
NAU President John Haeger acts as panel chair at a Community Outreach Program in Flagstaff
John Haeger, President of Northern Arizona University has been selected as the 2013 recipient of the Shirley Agnos Award. President Haeger exemplifies the qualities listed in the criteria for bestowing the award:
a long and dedicated record of working to improve our state and the lives of our citizens;
a proven record of creating consensus positions from differing points of view
an active advocate on behalf of statewide issues;
highly respected and of the highest integrity.
President Haeger will be presented with the award during Tuesday's lunch program on November 5th at the fall Town Hall.
Early Education Town Hall November 3-6, 2013 South Rim of the Grand Canyon
It's been the year to focus on education. Higher Education was the topic for the spring Town Hall and early education will be the topic this fall.
Participants at the fall Town Hall will address Arizona's early learners (age 0-8) and determine what actions can be taken that will have the greatest positive impact on our state's future citizens and leaders.
NAU, working in conjunction with the Arizona K12 Center and the Town Hall Research Committee, is preparing the background materials. Numerous other partners have already stepped forward to support the gathering, including our Catalyst Partners Helios Education Foundation and Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust.
