August/2016

Dear CIHS Community Members,

I hope everyone is enjoying summer. In this August Newsletter, there is exciting news from faculty and students. First, Dr. Hope Umansky will be announcing the course schedule for the fall quarter. The second article is from Stanford Professor Emeritus, Dr. William Tiller, to invite you to participate in his new consciousness research project called the Consciousness Field Project. Please read his article if you are interested in participating in this amazing project.

There are also two articles about what our faculty and students are doing on campus and in the outside community. It is very interesting to see how CIHS' teachings are conducted through our classroom and community.

Please remember that the registration week for Fall quarter is September 12 through 16,and the quarter starts on Monday, September 26. Some of the courses are open to the non-student community and can be audited; please contact our program director, Dr. Hope Umansky, if you have any questions or are interested in our courses and programs at CIHS (hope_umansky@cihs.edu).

Please enjoy your summer!

Sincerely,

Hideki Baba, Ph.D.

Hello CIHS Community,

Happy Summer! It is that time again. Time to start thinking about Fall quarter classes. Registration for Fall quarter is September 12-16 and the quarter begins pm September 26 and runs through December 2. Integrated Learning Modality (ILM) is our hybrid classroom model and these classes are open for distance learners. If the classes is entirely online it will so and if it says ground, that means all students must be present for the classes (some exceptions for distance learners may be made via Skype etc.).

The courses for Fall quarter (Registration is the 12-16) are the following:

Intro to Integral Studies, Dr. Mal Burgess online, BIS core requirement

Foundations of Integral Studies, Dr. Thomas Brophy, ILM. CIHS core requirement all programs.

Psychology of Personality, Dr. Tamara Goldsby, ILM, integral and clinical psychology requirement; open as electives to other programs.

Human Sexuality II: Advanced Energetic Considerations, Dr. Michelle Dexter, ILM integral and clinical psychology requirement; open as electives to other programs.

Psychopharmacology, Dr. Sam Aganov online. Clinical Psychology core requirement; open as elective to MA and PhD students.

Dr. Brophy would be happy to assist you with any Integral Health based questions, Dr. Ji Hyang Padma with any Comparative Religion and Philosophy Program, and I with any Psychology or other academic program questions. Please feel free to use these resources as we are here for you. Please do not wait until the last minute, as we are all busy with student advisement meetings. I look forward to helping you find the best classes for your program and you.

INTENTION RESEARCH PROJECT:

LOVE, HEALTH AND SPIRITUAL AWAKENING

By William Tiller

After three research studies on the broadcasting of intention yielding p-values of <.001 and highly satisfied participants, Stanford Professor Emeritus Bill Tiller is now doing a far more rigorous FDA-exempted, Institutional Research Board approved, double-blind research project with Dr. Deepak Chopra, MD, and Dr. Paul Mills of UCSD.  We would like to invite you to participate in this new, consciousness research project called the Consciousness Field Project:

INTENTION RESEARCH PROJECT:

LOVE, HEALTH AND SPIRITUAL AWAKENING

This team is researching an investigational process using a remote energetic broadcast, which delivers a Wellness Intention to you every few minutes- similar to sending a prayer 24/7, 365 days a year.  It is hoped that this process will accelerate your lasting mental, emotional, and spiritual development.  The goal is to see if the broadcast wellness intention helps you continue to listen to and express your soul's purpose while living your busy life.

How it works: The intention will be energetically broadcast over the course of 18 months to you - using only your name and address.  No effort is required on your part.  While the mechanism of this subtle energy effect is not yet fully understood, it appears fundamentally to be a non-local resonant energetic process, which may catalyze shifts at multiple levels of your being.

What you may experience: You may or may not notice subtle changes such as greater resiliency in dealing with challenges, spontaneously choosing healthy behaviors, and an effortless shift toward greater coherence (order), love, and spiritual awakening.  The specific shifts will be self-reported monthly through an online 10-minute survey (taken by computer or smartphone). Study participants will be supported through teleseminars and a specifically dedicated community forum.

The team: The team has more than 70 years of combined experience in the area of personal growth at the intersection of consciousness, physics, and psychology. The program is sponsored by Merraki Institute, a consciousness research organization, and is led by Gabriele Hilberg, PhD (clinical psychologist, author and international speaker), William Tiller, PhD (Professor Emeritus, Stanford University, Fellow to the American Academy for the Advancement of Science and featured physicist in the movie "What the Bleep"), and Paul Mills, PhD, who heads our Research at the Chopra Center.

Cost: The cost is only $33 per month for 18 months ($600 total), which will help partially defray research costs for testing and equipment.

For more information and to register, visit: www.consciousnessfieldproject.org  You can also contact us via email at info@merrakiinstitute.com  or by phone 650-468-0525 .

Fredrico Miraglia, Ph.D. student in Integral Health, was volunteering for a Virtual Reality display at the Seduction of Spirit at La Costa Resort & Spa

He ran a virtual reality apparatus developed by Deepak Chopra. Participants were taken into a parallel reality where they could relax and meditate, accompanied by wonderful graphics and Deepak's voice.

At the end of the sessions, I collected feedback so that the designers could understand the taste of the public for future virtual journeys.

 Dr. Motoyama's New Publication
 "The World of Religious Experiences"

We are pleased to announce Dr. Motoyama's new publication.

Dr. Motoyama had his eighty-eighth birthday celebration on December 2013 in Japan, and as one of the commemoration projects of his birthday, we published The World of Religious Experiences in English.

The World of Religious Experiences is a collection of articles written by Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama from about 1955 until the beginning of 1960. The articles were first brought together for the purposes of his doctoral dissertation, and for which he received his Doctor of Literature degree (philosophy, electrophysiology) in March 1962. In 1963, the articles were published together as a book under the title, The World of Religious Experiences, which was Dr. Motoyama's first book length publication.

Through these articles, Dr. Motoyama has tried to research into the existence the characteristics of religious experiences with metaphysical-ontological elucidation and statistical analysis of electrophysiological experiments based upon his own religious experiences. This collection of research articles is the foundation of the "Motoyama Philosophy." The articles clarify that the world of religious experiences are a true world, which sincerely relates to the basis of human existence. This insight comes from the integration of his deepened religious practices and physiological-physical-experimental studies.

We believe that it is very meaningful to have this publication, the foundation of "Motoyama Philosophy," available to the world in time for his eighty-eighth birthday.

This book is now available in the CIHS online bookstore.
