Fall Quarter 2015
We are lucky to live in an era where the problems that plague most of the human heart are treatable. This is quite a claim, isn't it? Advances in the fields of psychology, biology, microbiology, psychoneuroimmunology, and quantum physics have revealed an exciting set of tools that can efficiently resolve stuck emotions, such as anger and shame, and transform limiting beliefs (like "I can't do x) into affirming ones (like "I can reach my goals"). This body of work, energy psychology (sometimes called energy medicine or bioenergetics), is an advanced set of methods designed to facilitate growth and start living the lives they dream of, without unnecessarily dredging up the past and childhood traumas (unless necessary). These scientifically validated techniques work with the body, the mind, and the spirit to create holistic harmony by resolving stuck emotions and unconscious blocks to success so that people's optimal well-being realized.
The course, Clinical Aspects of Energy Psychology, will theoretically, experientially, and practically review the body's subtle energy system, explain the science behind energy psychology methods, and provide practical tools to resolve the blocks to clients' goals. This class is appropriate for any level student who wants to facilitate their client's growth, including helping them have more confidence, more success, and a happier, more satisfied life. Course Description
This course will explore the expanding theoretical and clinical applications of energy psychology. The field of energy psychology utilizes mind, body, energy interventions that have been clinically shown to alleviate a range of psychological disorders by treating the human vibrational matrix, including the biofield enveloping the body, the energy vortexes or charkas and the energy pathways or meridians which incorporate increasing range of techniques from acupressure, applied kinesiology, sound vibration and pranic healing to eliminate blocks and imbalances in the body's energy fields. Successes were initially evident in anxiety disorders, but now include depression, trauma, addictions, and some personality disorders as well as immunological challenges. (4 units)

Dr. Motoyama's New Publication
| |
"The World of Religious Experiences"
We are pleased to announce Dr. Motoyama's new publication.
Dr. Motoyama had his eighty-eighth birthday celebration on December 2013 in Japan, and as one of the commemoration projects of his birthday, we published The World of Religious Experiences in English.
The World of Religious Experiences is a collection of articles written by Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama from about 1955 until the beginning of 1960. The articles were first brought together for the purposes of his doctoral dissertation, and for which he received his Doctor of Literature degree (philosophy, electrophysiology) in March 1962. In 1963, the articles were published together as a book under the title, The World of Religious Experiences, which was Dr. Motoyama's first book length publication.
Through these articles, Dr. Motoyama has tried to research into the existence the characteristics of religious experiences with metaphysical-ontological elucidation and statistical analysis of electrophysiological experiments based upon his own religious experiences. This collection of research articles is the foundation of the "Motoyama Philosophy." The articles clarify that the world of religious experiences are a true world, which sincerely relates to the basis of human existence. This insight comes from the integration of his deepened religious practices and physiological-physical-experimental studies.
We believe that it is very meaningful to have this publication, the foundation of "Motoyama Philosophy," available to the world in time for his eighty-eighth birthday.

Sound Meditation at CIHS - 2015
| |
by Tamara Goldsby, Ph.D.
CIHS is pleased to invite you to experience wonderful sound healing meditations. Relax in the soothing sounds and vibrations produced by Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls, gongs, and bells. Please visit http://deepsoundmeditation.org/ for more information about sound meditations.
- Sound meditations are every Wednesday from 6:30pm - 8pm at CIHS through the first Wednesday in June. A $10 donation is requested.
- While these gatherings are called sound meditations, the beneficial energy is created by the attendees, as well as the sound healers. We call these attendees the Bishwa Seva Community. This community is a gathering of regular meditators, yoga practitioners, experienced healers, artists, musicians, international travelers, community volunteers, conscious self-healers, and old souls. We welcome the CIHS community at these powerful sound healing events.
Proceeds of the meditation events go to the Bishwa Seva Foundation (founded by master sound healer Deep Deoja) which supports a school and orphanage in Nepal: http://bishwaseva.org/
Namaste.

Lunch and Learn
Lunch n Learn Description:
Lunch n Learn Series was created as a much needed platform to educate, integrate and expand our scope of knowledge in a group setting.
We ask you to bring your friends, colleagues and patients to learn about a wide variety of holistic and healthy topics.
October 22nd:
Lunch n Learn from 12pm-2:00pm will be with Joshua Barr, Ayurvedic Practitioner & Lymphatic Massage Therapist
The Lymphatic System from an Ayurvedic Perspective The lymphatic system is a much underappreciated system that works hard every day to get rid of the waste our cells produce every moment. It is not until something major happens such as cancer that we pay attention to it. Without a properly flowing lymphatic system vibrant health is not possible. We will take a look at this remarkable system through the scope of Ayurveda, an ancient path to health and enlightenment. Understanding how your dosha or body type relates to certain imbalances in the lymphatic system can prevent or heal not just your lymphatic system, but your organs, mind, and the rest of the body. Unlocking the reasons why you react to certain foods, environments, stimulants, and much more can help you find balance and put or keep you on the path to vibrant health.
