Dear CIHS Community Members,

I hope everyone is enjoying his or her summer. The July newsletter highlights one event, our annual subtle energy conference. Dr. Hope Umansky reflects on CIHS' uniqueness and our upcoming annual Subtle Energy Science Conference, Science, Spirituality, & the Healing Arts: View from the Edge of the New Frontier, CIHS Conference 2014, Friday, July 18 through Sunday July 20 on our beautiful Encinitas campus. This is an invaluable weekend long event to learn and experience the essence of CIHS. That is the innovative viewpoint and pursuit of an integrated view of science, spirituality, and the healing arts. Research is presented by preeminent speakers with work they are currently doing in the field as well as relevant current research they have been conducting throughout the year.

For those people who are planning to attend the conference, please register as soon as possible (register online). Your mind and body will be nourished the entire weekend with research, exhibitions (including many different types of energy healing, lymphatic drainage, and so on), community, and catered food (organic, gluten free and vegetarian options!). Only a couple of rows of seats remain; the conference is filling fast. Please reserve your seat if you intend to come. This year we will be celebrating the community with Friday dinner and a Saturday social hour with heavy appetizers after the last lecture in the early evening, in addition to breakfast and lunch both days. July is here! Countdown CIHS' conference: 7 days! The annual subtle energy conference. Science, Spirituality, & the Healing Arts: View from the Edge of a New Frontier is on campus next weekend, July 18-20. Please join our esteemed speakers as they celebrate presenting their innovative research that has taken place over the last year. Some of the speakers are presenting findings from research that was first announced last year. There are other new speakers who are attending CIHS for the first time to present their work. There will be also two halls of exhibitors with diverse services, energy healing, and other ways in which people incorporate subtle energy work into the everyday world. We only have a handful of seats left in the conference hall before we have reached capacity. If you would like to experience what it is like to be amidst like-minds, please come and experience our active learning community at its most dynamic. The weekend allows for direct interfacing with the presenters, researchers, professors, students, and people in the greater CIHS community. We also want to announce that the Tiller Institute, Dr. Bill Tiller's research center, has published the first issue of Science & Spirit that is devoted to bridging understanding of conventional science to the inner human realms of mind and emotion all the way to the Spirit http://scienceandspiritmag.com/

If you would like to meet Dr. Tiller, or any of our other speakers, the CIHS annual conference provides a fantastic opportunity for direct face-to-face contact with leaders in the field. It is also a great opportunity to meet our undergraduate and graduation school community as well as the larger subtle energy research and practitioner community.

If you have any questions about how CIHS' unique graduate programs (and BA completion) can support you on your professional, personal, and/or spiritual goals, I will be setting a limited amount of office hours the week of the conference, although I meet with prospective students throughout the year. Thus, if you are in Encinitas for the conference, you are welcome to set up an appointment with me. We have students from all over the world and the country. Distance learning is available for most of our programs. If you are local, I am happy to set up a time to meet with you after the week of the conference. The Community will celebrate and emphasize the work pushing the boundaries of traditional practice in healthcare and the healing arts.
