Art at the Armory Preview: Terry Miller The Festival is proud to welcome Terry Miller back to the Art at the Armory Gallery in 2014! Terry is a graphite artist who wows Festival visitors every year with his wildlife and landscape art in shades of black, white and gray. Terry began exhibiting at the Festival in 1991, shortly after making art his full-time passion following a career as a special-education teacher.

Last September, Terry was honored to be named the 33rd Master Wildlife Artist by the Woodson Art Museum during the opening of the 2013 Birds in Art exhibition. "Following in the footsteps of previous named Masters, including such respected artists as Robert Bateman, Roger Tory Peterson, Richard Sloan and Nancy Howe to name but a few, was not only a personally gratifying honor as an artist, but also one that I felt pleased to accept on behalf of my medium. I hoped to elevate the rather neglected and under-appreciated Graphite Drawing medium to the same level as the paintings and other color works on paper of the Masters who had come before me," said Terry.

Terry, like many of our artists, holds a special place in his heart for the Waterfowl Festival, "I enjoy coming to Easton every fall not only because it is almost in my own backyard (Takoma Park, MD across the Bay), but because the atmosphere of the weekend is so inviting and warm and friendly not only toward the visitors who flock to the Festival, but also toward the exhibiting artists. Not every large scale art show of this type responds in this way, making all who participate feel special and wanted and appreciated for their talents. The sincerity of the staff and all who are part of the Festival is what makes the weekend as special as it has become for those of us who have been doing it for more than two decades."

Volunteer Spotlight: 2013 Waterfowl Festival Award Winner!
2013 Waterfowl Festival Award Winner: Wanda Wildrick
The staff in the Waterfowl Festival office would not know what to do without Wanda Wildrick! Wanda started helping the Festival in 2004 by getting involved with the decorating committee in the Armory basement. She lent her considerable talents to assist in creating the lovely dried flower arrangements and wreaths that make our venues more attractive for visitors. After a few years, she began lending a hand answering the phones in the Waterfowl Festival office, becoming a treasure trove of information and handling even the most difficult calls with good humor. Since then she has become the "go-to" person whenever there is a need to get something done, spending long hours in the Festival office many weeks in advance of the Festival. Wanda also puts in long hours during the Festival weekend and has worked on anything from managing a Festival Shoppes location, to staying late to help with Cash Management, and spending many a late Saturday night to help with our World Championship Calling Contests. No matter the hour or task, Wanda always shines with kindness and a smile, and we honestly don't know how we would do it without her!
