National:
  • Take Action Request!Child Care Aware (formerly NACCRRA) - Send a prewritten letter to Congress Children Need Safe Child Care! Background Checks Help Strengthen Children's Safety In 2012, NBC's Dateline aired a shocking story about just how easy it is for convicted felons and those with a violent history to get a license to provide child care. NBC's Chris Hansen went undercover and found child care providers with a history of homicide, arson, assault and battery, child abuse, as well as drug and drunk driving convictions. In November 2012, the Today show aired a story about flawed commercial company background check services, which are not based on fingerprints.  Background checks should be required, but they need to be based on fingerprints - that's the only way to ensure that checks are effective. Let your member of Congress know!

MB: 13-01 : New TrustLine Regulations

On January 15, 2013, CDE released MB 13-01 regarding TrustLine regulations impacting license exempt providers. CAPPA facilitated a conference call earlier today. A recording of that call will be available. Please contact CAPPA if you would like a copy.

On the call, CDE requested suggested language that could be considered in a Notice of Action (NOA). If you have any such language please forward to CAPPA to compile. If you have other questions that you would like considered by CDE again forward those to us.

Finally, CDE offered to host a small group that can continue to work on this issue. If you have an interest in participating, please let CAPPA know.

DONATE TO CAPPA AND SAVE CHILD CARE

CAPPA is committed to continuing to advocate against the devastating cuts proposed by Governor Brown, provide support and training opportunities in addition to keeping the field updated on important and timely information via Save Child Care but we need your help.

We are asking for a donation to help us continue this important work- any amount is welcome. Together, we have united and have been successful in getting our message heard that families cannot work and be self sufficient without quality child care. Further, we have been on the front lines fighting to bring recognition of the needs of families, children, providers and the importance of the work that community based agencies and organizations do that serve low-income working families and children every day.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to partner with CAPPA and Save Child Care.
