If you'd like to experience a Taste of Coaching, work through this month's Coaching Question, pray through the surrender quote, and read through the feature story by one of our LPCCI instructors, Darlene Lund, about being set free!

Do you ever pray specifically to our Protector God for safety? I sure had prayed diligently for my family's "transportation safety" two days ago. It seemed a bit over-the-top to me at the time, but we were all headed out to meet up at a fun, overdue reunion at Laguna Beach, one that was to be followed by a lovely, evening wedding across town. In hindsight, I'm so grateful that the Holy Spirit had prompted me to pray in that way, as I had a little "transportation safety" need of my own that day.

May I showcase Our Protector God to you today?

All my sibs were still putting on their suntan lotion or deciding on a route for a beach stroll, so I excitedly ventured calf-deep into the shallow, shoreline water. Just after I smiled/waved at our group to check in, a strong riptide sucked me into the ocean, seriously discombobulating me under three huge waves (quite an unusual experience for me who had always lived in the water in CA, Hawaii, Guam, and the Marshall Islands).

Cute Lifeguard Casey sprinted the length of a football field to rescue me, while my brother Dennis raced from the other direction and dove into the harsh current-just as another Bro (Mark), was shedding his hat, sunglasses, and t-shirt along his route to his save his Sis.

They pulled me out of the water face down as dead weight--with my toes dragging in the sand and my eyes closed....

About Surrender!

Dear Katie,

In South Africa, I  am subscribed to an Afrikaans Christian women's magazine called "Leef" -- translated into English as "Live." I received the new edition last week Friday and on one of the pages is a quote from you! I took a photo and have attached it.

I just thought, isn't it amazing that you and our Course 301 classmates were talking last Thursday on our tele-conference about our Surrender Exercise, and then this quote came in an Afrikaans magazine as confirmation of the importance of surrender!!!

The heading when translated would say: "Healed through His Love," and then it follows basically by saying that...

we bring a sacrifice to God when we surrender ourselves to His will - but in return He gives us so much more. As we surrender, He starts changing our hearts - and we experience more and more the blessings of His Spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience.... The more we surrender, the more we change. What a bonus it is to surrender all we do, all our problems and worries into the hands of the One Who Knows. He will give you all the wisdom and focus you need to live a life of praise, thanksgiving, service and purpose.

God is Amazing and He cares for our hearts, even in the smallest detail. How Great You are, God!

Are You Ready to Take Action Now?

A Coaching Experience
LPCCI Life Purpose Coach®, Recovery Coach,
Grief-Loss Coach, Life Plan Facilitator, and Instructor

Finally, the warmer temperature in Michigan has enticed me to purposely carve out time to sit outside with the Lord, as I prepare myself to take action for his Kingdom!

Take action? Yes, are you ready to take action now, too, even if it's not so warm right now in your time zone?

So...as I've been doing this intense inventory of my life and reflecting on upcoming action steps, I'm asking God what he wants me to do and how he wants me to grow in Christlike character. I know all too well how easy it is to get derailed from his purposeful pathway. I've been especially blessed to spend time this past month doing a mini-Annual Review of my Life Plan from years ago. (A LPCCI Life Plan is a private, BreakThru, marquee process with a Coach-Facilitator f2f for two, 8-hour days; it gives you a road map of your goals and actions steps; it's ideal to update it each year.)
You know personally how easily the enemy's lies can creep into your life, corrode your spirit, and chew up your heart-so you are barely existing and are bored out of your mind! I'd like to share from my own experience about how, once upon a time, God brought me back from that living-dead status through a coaching experience:

More than seven years ago, I met over the phone and chose my very first Life Purpose Coach®. (Typically, that coaching process is ten, 50-minute sessions through Dr. B's incredible book, Conversations on Purpose with its ten EZ-Forms. This helps a client discern God's vision of their unique life purpose and walk the pathway of that holy journey.) I knew these sessions would help me, usually a faith-bursting Christian, answer my biggest question: Why am I still alive?

As our 1st tele-coaching time approached, I hid away from my family in a quiet corner of our home to be able to focus on what my Christian coach might say. This was going to be my precious time to unpack my life. WHOA! Isn't that selfish? Some may think so, but no...it isn't. If we don't stop to take inventory of our God-honoring and sometimes God-despising lives with someone we trust, who will do it for us?

My coach began that wonderful session with an opening prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to join us. I knew she had my pre-paperwork in front of her, and I felt blessed that she saw me, the real me, on paper. She drew out additional questions from my written answers, even though I noticed that it was hard for me to talk about myself. (Do we tend to think it's prideful to talk about ourselves for more than a minute? Yes, many do, but it isn't! God wants us to know ourselves really well, so we can we understand how we need to grow.) To dive deeper, my coach continued to ask pertinent questions and I continued to answer honestly. As she closed in a brief prayer of thanksgiving, I realized that I felt listened to, heard, and affirmed. That was all new for me. It had been an excellent time of self-discovery, and I only wished that the next coaching chat could come more quickly so I could connect more dots of my life.

On our 2nd call, I heard myself voicing back to her my heart-felt desires, roadblocks, and sins, which allowed "Aha Moments" to pop! I learned about the incredible power of stating aloud what we've held tightly within us. I love it now when I hear a client of mine say, "Oh, Wow! I never saw it that way."

A big shift occurred in our 3rd conversation, during which we discussed my high school and college years. It was like God pushed me back through those time periods to reintroduce me to myself. My Life Purpose Coach® observed that I had checked all the boxes of activities pertaining to what sports and clubs that I had participated in and what positions I had held. Then she gently spoke one sentence that stunned me: "You were quite the leader." I gulped and thought, Oh, my goodness, where did I go off track? What she said to me was true and graciously humbling, yet sad, because my adult life experiences had wallpapered layers of lies upon me, and fear was used like paste to keep those vicious lies sticking to me. God was reawakening me to his Truth of my story...to set me free by revealing more clarity about who he created me to be!

By then, I had seen first-hand that a Life Purpose Coach® is like a camera that captures the wide-angle picture of our lives, and at times, zooms in to grab crucial details. And I realized that, when we have no earthen vessel of God to walk alongside us, it's easy to miss all that he's done to try to keep us on track. I hung up the phone and thought, God, you do have a plan for my life, and I want it. Help us keep digging to discover more of your Truth and your plan.

I prayed, "Thou doest scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways" (Psalm 139:3). I knew that he had seen it all and still loved me.

I will be forever grateful to one of LPCCI's finest, Cindy Tannehill, a Life Purpose Coach®, Life Plan Facilitator, Instructor, and Chief International Officer for Church + Denomination Coaching Centers---and to Dr. B, founder of Life Purpose Coaching Centers International®, for their God-given gifts of discernment and leadership.

I'm thrilled that God has called me to do this life-changing work. I've coached many precious women over the phone and face-to-face, many of whom have faced horribly tough, life situations. I thank God for their answered prayers and major breakthroughs, and I love rejoicing with them.

I want to remind you that God does hear you, and he will answer you. I'd be honored to chat with you and help prepare you to TAKE ACTION!

[See fun FYI #1 + FYI #2 below.]

FYI #1 of 2: Tears trickled down my cheeks years ago, when I read an email from KatieB asking if she could use my life story in her Live Big! coaching book. Chapter One, Face Your Fears, is a slice of my story. To sum up that chapter for you...Once upon a time, I was the Queen of Fear, including my gigantic fear of writing. Today, I've written a book, Submersed in the Secret Sorrow of Infertility, and now I have multiple writing projects in the works. Yea God and Yea KatieB, too, for being willing to be used by him to encourage me and coach me along regarding my next steps in the publishing world. Much Love.

FYI #2 of 2: Entrusted with an upcoming message on September 26-28, 2014...

Darlene will be speaking in the northern woods of Michigan, as the leaves turn their colors. Feel free to tell other women about this retreat at...
Covenant Point Bible Camp, 358 W. Hagerman Lake Road, Iron River, Michigan.
Email Linnea Johnson, the Retreat Registrar, for more info.
