Georgia Acosta for Assembly District 30

With her experience in business, agriculture, and education, as well as government reform, Assembly Candidate Georgia Acosta wants to bring her expertise to the state level on behalf of the people.

Acosta has been a local business owner in Watsonville for fifteen years. Her company aids local agricultural companies by providing layout and design applications for day-to-day operations.

Georgia Acosta says "Everyone needs to EAT", emphasizing her priority issues of
Education, Agriculture, and Transportation.

She is running in Assembly District 30, which includes all of San Benito County, most of Monterey County, and the Watsonville and Gilroy areas.  It includes the agricultural areas of the the Pajaro Valley and the Salinas Valley.  (See the map.)

Georgia Acosta was born in Gilroy, raised in Morgan Hill and has lived in Watsonville for over 25 years. She says, "During all this time, the business of agriculture has been central to the local economy, good jobs, and our lives. I will be your California champion for preserving and improving this vital local industry."

Georgia has served as a board member and Chairwoman for a charter school in Watsonville, where she developed a scholarship program for students. Currently she serves as the appointed local taxpayer representative on Cabrillo Community College's Bond Oversight Committee.

As avid runners, Georgia and her husband support many local races and events that
raise money for sports programs in local schools.

She has volunteered her time and service as a coach in a primary school in a program for female students in grades two through five. The mission of the program is to teach girls at an early age about running, nutrition, and negative/positive self-talk and how this affects their self-image.

Georgia has also volunteered her time as an income tax preparer aiding low income
people and their families in Monterey County.

Georgia spent 18 months working on three local reform measures in Watsonville that
were brought to the city's June 2014 ballot, and won with a landslide victory. She went to the State Capitol to oppose a bill which sought to overturn one of the measures.

Georgia and her husband Ed have been married for twenty-nine years and have three
children.

You can learn more about Georgia Acosta's campaign on her campaign website.
