Let's Watch the Money - Debora Allen for AD14

As the State Legislature and state bureaucrats continue to make many questionable
financial decisions, we need knowledgable people in Sacramento to look out for
taxpaying citizens.  Contra Costa's Debora Allen, who is experienced in financial
management and accounting, would be an excellent choice for the Assembly in District 14.

Debora Allen says, "I am running for California State Assembly in District 14 because our state government is a broken bureaucracy and my generation owes the next generations a cleanup project.  Sacramento needs new leaders who are willing to stand up to the elite establishment bureaucracy that has run our jobs out of the state and has kept our education system at the bottom end of the national
achievement scale."

Allen is the founder of Quoin, Inc., a local business consulting firm that assists businesses and non-profit organizations. During her 25 year career, she has worked as a corporate Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Tax Manager, and Controller, as well as being the owner or co-owner of several businesses.

Assembly District 14 is an open seat held by termed-out Democrat Susan Bonilla.  It includes Vallejo and Benicia in Solano County and Concord, most of Pittsburg, Mount Diablo and more in Contra Costa County. (See the map.)

In 2011, and again in 2014, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors appointed Debora Allen to the Board of Retirement of the Contra Costa County Employees Retirement System.  While serving over the last 5 years, she has spent hundreds of hours in pension-related training programs across the country studying institutional investing, actuarial calculations, and board governance.

Debora explains her plans as a legislator: "I will be a hardworking, independent thinking, fair minded legislator that will work across the aisle to solve our toughest problems.  I will stand up to corruption and waste, oppose new taxes, protect Prop 13, and cut through the regulations to bring new industries and jobs back to our great state."

"I will be a legislator that looks for new innovative solutions for how to run state government more efficiently, transparently, and with more accountability."

Debora has supported her community by serving as Treasurer and Vice President for the Clayton Valley Little League, providing pro bono tax assistance for charitable organizations, volunteering with Boy Scouts, as well as supporting many local charities.

Debora and her husband, Timothy Allen, have lived in Contra Costa County since 1987.  They have two adult sons and two Great Pyrenees dogs.  They spend much of their free time hiking, biking, fishing, gardening and enjoying the beautiful environment which they call home next to Mount Diablo State Park.

You can learn more about Debora Allen's campaign at her campaign website, www.deboraallen.com.

Attend the CRP Convention in Burlingame April 29 - May 1

Ted Cruz Speaks at Saturday Lunch,
Carly Fiorina Saturday Evening

Bay Area Republicans have a special opportunity this month - the only CRP Convention this year will be held right here in the Bay Area, at the Hyatt Regency SF Airport in Burlingame.  And with the first competitive presidential primary in years there are some exciting possibilities.

All three presidential candidates, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and John Kasich, have been invited to speak.  Senator Ted Cruz will speak at the Saturday luncheon.  Carly Fiorina, former presidential candidate and HP CEO, one of our most effective Hillary critics, will speak at the Saturday evening banquet.  Sparks will fly!

The presidential primary election is limited to Republican voters only and is winner take all by congressional district.  If a presidential candidate wins a congressional district, he wins its three delegates, so our votes may matter this time.  The Bay Area has eleven congressional districts, more than some states.

Attending this convention is an opportunity to hear one or more of the GOP Presidential Candidates.  You don't need to be a delegate to attend the convention.  A guest registration badge gets you into many meetings and workshops, and you can buy tickets for the individual banquet events.

Most of the U.S. Senate candidates are expected to attend.  There will be workshops, committee meetings, hospitality suites, vendors, and hundreds of great Republicans from around the state.  Come and be a part of it.

The Hyatt is sold out for Saturday night, but the Convention page links to other hotel choices.  It's also best to pre-register online.  Visit the BayAreaGOP Convention Page for details.

BayAreaGOP will host its usual convention briefing and hospitality suite on both Friday and Saturday evenings after the dinner, and I hope you can join us.

Best regards,
Luis
