Catherine Carlton for Menlo Park City Council
| |
As she runs for the Menlo Park City Council, Catherine Carlton brings a rich combination of experience: financial management, city commissioner, community volunteer, international business woman, and mother. Catherine is already involved in city government, serving as the Vice Chair of the Parks and Recreation Commission for Menlo Park. As a Councilmember, she will work to: preserve small town values; streamline processes and review regulatory burdens; work collaboratively with surrounding communities and improve public safety; and protect the environment. An experienced international businesswoman, Catherine Carlton lived in Hong Kong for over 10 years, where she launched Equant in North Asia. She also founded and served as Managing Director of Digital Island in the Asia Pacific Australia region, and founded and managed the Search Bank in Hong Kong and the US. She also helped publish two books that raised funds for a special needs school and the World Parrot Trust in Asia. Catherine served as the Chair of several committees with the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and co-authored a position paper for the Chamber on High Bit Encryption Exportation. She was a member of the advisory team that met with United States Congressional representatives to review the World Trade Organization's position with China. For the past 20 years, Catherine has served her community at both the state and local level. After moving to Menlo Park, Catherine became Vice-President of the Sharon Heights Homeowners Association, joined the board of the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and volunteered as an after school tutor at the Boys and Girls Club. Through her work with the Junior League, Catherine supported Project Read, Fostering Families and HIP Housing to name a few. She worked successfully with several state legislators to draft legislation that has addressed human trafficking and domestic violence. As a mother of two young children, Catherine helps run her daughter's Girl Scout troop, and is a volunteer with the AYSO in Menlo Park. Catherine attended Tulane University, and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Rhetoric and Public Communications. She then moved to London to complete her MBA at the Cass Business School, where she was President of her class with the Deans Honors. Catherine lives with her husband Bob and their two children. You can find out more about her campaign on her campaign website. You can attend Catherine's coffee Friday morning or her precinct walks this weekend. Romney and Ryan Will Lead Our Republican Team to Victory
With outstanding debate performances, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have set the stage for Republican victory across the country. We can make sure that the GOP wave extends all the way to the Pacific.
Over the next two weeks you have the chance to volunteer to turn out Republican voters, educate yourselves on the important propositions facing our state, and make a donation to help your favorite candidates.
In the action center below, you can find a list of Bay Area GOP GOTV headquarters, from Sonoma to San Benito. Bay Area Republicans can be proud of the efforts of their local candidates and parties who are working hard to get Republicans out to vote. Please join us in that effort!
I particularly want to call your attention to three propositions on the November ballot.
- Vote No on Proposition 30 to defeat Brown's tax increase.
- Vote Yes on Proposition 32 that would cut the flow of special interest money to Sacramento politicians. For more info, check out our special section on Prop 32.
- Vote Yes on Proposition 40 to keep the current State Senate districts for 2014. This will give Republicans the best chance to increase their representation in the State Senate.

Call for GOP Volunteers to go to Nevada as Poll Observers Saturday, Oct. 20 - Friday, Nov. 2 and Election Day - November 6th. Reno, Nevada
The Democrats have been able to get many people to go to Nevada to "register people to vote". In past elections, this strategy has resulted in questionable registrations. The only way to combat this problem is with POLL OBSERVERS. One may vote in Nevada at Polling Places for 14 days of "Early Voting", as well as on Election Day, Nov. 6. Please contact Pat Sheehan if you or friends would be able to travel to Reno to be a POLL OBSERVER during Saturday, Oct. 20 through Friday, Nov. 2 or Election Day - November 6th.
Possible assistance with accommodations is available. Hope you can volunteer! Pat Sheehan SPARC Member Nevada Clean Up the Vote Member 650 814-1751
