Ben Gillies Obituary
It is with great sadness that MPIBA announces the passing of Ben Gillies of City Stack Books
& Coffee in Denver, Colorado

Benjamin Gerard Gillies
Son, brother, book-lover, bookseller, enthusiastic cyclist and gentle soul, died peacefully at The Denver Hospice in Denver, Colorado August 25, 2016, following a long illness.

Ben was a partner and co-founder of City Stacks Books & Coffee in Denver
and was previously a long-time employee of both the Hungry Mind and Subtext bookstores in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Ben's love of books and reading knew few boundaries.
He read widely and deeply, and his favorite book was Milton's Paradise Lost. He was proud of his work as a bookseller and felt privileged to provide books for others.

Those who knew him will miss his brilliance, humor, charm, and creativity.

Ben graduated from high school in Idaho Falls, Idaho and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. Ben is survived by his partner of many years, Emily Scholl; his mother, Linda Moore Williams (Rodger); his father, Kevin Osborn Gillies (Nancy Banks); and brothers Sean (Ruth Hufbauer) and Aaron (Russell Jones).

Join MPIBA in making a Memorial Donation in Ben's name to Colorado Reading Partners.
