Bookstores Receive James Patterson Grants
The King's English Bookshop in Salt Lake City, Utah
"These grants and bonuses are my humble acknowledgment of some of the terrific work taking place in libraries and bookstores," Patterson said.

"Here's to communities supporting their bookstores and libraries. Here's to a country that makes reading a priority. Here's to flourishing libraries and booksellers, and to a joyful holiday season!"

From 2,848 nominations received for the holiday bonus program, Patterson personally selected the booksellers who will receive bonuses ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. In 2014, Patterson awarded more than $1 million in grants to 178 independent bookstores committed to fostering a love of reading among children and young adults.

Over the past decade, Patterson has also given more than a million books to students all over the U.S.

Patterson is funding his pro-reading initiatives, including the holiday bonus program, with all his proceeds from the sale of Jimmy Patterson Books, his new children's book imprint.

Welcome New MPIBA Board Members!
Nicole Sullivan from BookBar
in Denver, Colorado

Nicole Sullivan opened BookBar in May of 2013 after seeing a need for a community bookstore in the neighborhood. She expanded the store in October 2015, adding a larger kids' space, reading room, and outdoor patio. In November 2015 she opened BookBed, a book lovers bed & breakfast, just above BookBar. She also owns and operates bookclubhub.org - a reader to book club matching website. In January 2016 she will begin contracting with Paz and Associates to train booksellers on running both a bookstore and bar. Her strong passion is in seeing independent bookstores thrive.
Jeremy Ellis from Brazos Bookstore in Houston, Texas

Jeremy Ellis has worked in independent bookstores across Texas since 1994. He began as a bookseller for the sprawling Dallas independent, Taylors Books, before moving to the much smaller community focused, Trudy's Fireside Books in Tyler, Texas. In 1998, he went on to become Event Coordinator and then Marketing Director for BookPeople in Austin. He took over leadership at Houston's famed Brazos Bookstore in September of 2011.

Sales Reps: Update Your MPIBA Online Listing
MPIBA discontinued its printed Handbook in 2013, and sales reps are now listed online.

At the Fall Discovery Show, Eric Boss talked with quite a few sales reps and collected updated information. Since that time, he has been assiduously working to get those changes posted on MPIBA's website.

Please check your online listing here:
http://www.mountainsplains.org/sales-rep-list-rep-name/

If you have any changes, please communicate those to:
Eric Boss, Special Projects, MPIBA:
eric@mountainsplains.org

We also have a listing by publisher name, which MPIBA updates based on changes you communicate for your individual sales rep listing. You do not need to provide those to us separately.

Thank you for your assistance!
