The Tattered Cover's Focus On Succession
Joyce Meskis and Len Vlahos
Two years of transition, two new owners, and so many beloved bookstore traditions!

After more than 40 years at Tattered Cover, Joyce Meskis is handing over the bookstore to a pair of publishing industry veterans, Len Vlahos and Kristen Gilligan. The next two years will usher in a succession that all bookstore lovers will watch with rapt anticipation. Here's to another 40 years, Tattered Cover!

"The death of the indie bookstores is truly greatly exaggerated. In fact, you're seeing a lot of succession."
--Kristen Gilligan, new co-owner of Tattered Cove

Fast Forward to Literacy
Corinne Schieman, pictured above, our favorite "Book Lady" who administers the non-profit Fast Forward to Literacy program, delivered 800 books to the Del Norte Head Start Program in Salida, Colorado!

Fast Forward to Literacy is a past recipient of MPIBA's Literacy Grant and they use the grant money to fund programs like this one in Del Norte.

Thank you to everyone who donates to support MPIBA's literacy programs.

Winter Institute
Is Filling Up Fast!
The 11th annual Winter Institute (Wi11), sponsored by the Ingram Content Group, will be held at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel in Denver, Colorado, from Saturday, January 23, through Tuesday, January 26, 2016.

Interested in Participating?

The event is open exclusively to bookstore and provisional ABA members and is limited to three booksellers per member-company. Registration opened on Wednesday, September 9th, and, despite the fact that ABA increased bookseller capacity by 15 percent, the institute is now almost full.
