The NHSCA has postponed indefinitely the July 31, 2015 deadline for General Project Grants for Community Engagement as a response to the current state budget situation. We invite you to help make the case for the importance and impact of state funding for arts project programming by contacting your State Senators and Representatives and the media and by posting your arts stories on the NHSCA and NH Citizens for the Arts Facebook pages.

The Little Church Theater is committed to bringing unique theatrical and artistic events to the region, with three months of performing and visual arts, all open to the public. Located on the shores of Squam Lake, their season runs from May through September.

Wednesday & Thursday, July 15 & 16 - Young@Arts Dress Rehearsals

This summer workshop is designed to familiarize teenage actors with the language, stories, characters and ideas in one of Shakespeare's greatest comedies - A Midsummer Night's Dream. Students will learn all about the Elizabethan style, as well as modernization of Shakespearean performances. Many students are only exposed to the Bard as text, but Shakespeare's plays were not meant just to be read; they were meant to be performed. The students will audition for parts, do table and scene work, and go through a full-production process similar to a professional theatrical company. The actors will learn how to approach Shakespearean text, rehearsal techniques, character development, and many other theatrical skills that can be applied to both Shakespeare as well as any other style of theatre. Performances will take place beginning at 7:30pm on July 17 & 18. Young@Arts will be an ensemble piece. However, anyone who is interested in stage managing, teching or lighting the show, should let the Theatre know. Questions may be directed to info@littlechurchtheater.com

Academy Award winner Ernest Thompson and Whitebridge Farm Productions will present two recent movies in a Midsummer Night Film Festival to benefit The Little Church Theater, followed by a talkback with Ernest and friends.
