Greetings, I hope this newsletter finds you doing well.

My favorite golf tournament of the year, The Masters, starts on Thursday, April 10th and ends on Sunday, April 13th. The tournament (including the Par 3 contest on Wednesday) is a must watch for any golfer. It has an amazing history, beautiful scenery, and unmatched excitement (especially on the back nine on Sunday) that makes it a wonderful event.

In honor of this year's Masters, if you can correctly choose the winner of this event, you will win a complimentary half hour lesson. Just don't pick Tiger Woods, he is officially out of the tournament as he has undergone back surgery. My pick is Dustin Johnson, I think with his tremendous length and calm demeanor that he will capture his first major next week.
In the rest of the newsletter, you will see the following features:

*Video Tip on posture - it may surprise you to see how the greatest golfers of all time set up to the ball.

*Video of 2014 Valspar Championship Winner- John Senden.
*Honor Roll Students
*Upcoming dates for One Day Golf School, Short Game School, and Play with the Pro.

     SWING TIP OF THE MONTH

Posture of the Greats-

It's probably not what you would expect.

Posture of the great golfers: www.hicksgolf.com

If you have ever been told to keep your back straight, chin up, stick your butt out than this video is for you. As you will see in the video, these great golfers (Nicklaus, Palmer, Hogan, Trevino, Sneed, Nelson, and Boros) did none of the above and as a group won 55 Majors! They simply reacted to the target and got their body in the best position possible to create the desired swing - just like you would for any other sport.

If there are any parts of the game that you would like for me to address in future videos, please let me know.

PGA Tour Player Swing of the Month

2014 Valspar Champion

John Senden

Congratulations to John Senden for capturing his first victory on the PGA Tour by winning the Valspar Championship. John has always been ranked as one of the top ball strikers on tour, but struggled with the putter His swing has a little bit of a loop where he takes it a little outside on the backswing and drops it back onto plane on the downswing. Needless to say, it works pretty well for him.

Honor Roll Students

  • John Rister- John recently won two Golf Channel Amateur events.
  • Jon Miller Bailey- Jon shot his career low, by 10 shots, of 85 at Eastlake.
  • Greg Haines- Greg holed out his second shot for eagle on the first hole on the Mission course at Riverwalk.
  • Ray Cox- Ray won a member-member tournament at Cottonwood golf course.

If you have had a great round or accomplishment in golf, please share it with me so that I may put it in the next newsletter.
