Greetings!

Greetings, I hope you are enjoying the summer and all is well.

What an exciting U.S. Open on a very challenging golf course. It was nice to see Justin Rose capture his first major. He has gone through quite an up and down career- ranging from his 4th place finish in the British Open in 1998 as a 17 year old teenager to a 10 year struggle of barely making cuts to a now great four year run of being one of the top players in the world.

Congrats to Dan Brown, who correctly picked Justin Rose as the U.S. Open winner - Dan received a free 30 minute golf lesson for his correct pick. There is another chance to win a free lesson by picking the British Open winner next week- picks need to be emailed in before the start of play (7/18).
In the rest of the newsletter, you will see the following features:

*Video Tip on Posture (Misconception #3)- a must see for those who have ever been told to work on their posture.

*Video of 2013 United States Open Champion- Justin Rose.
*Honor Roll Students
*Upcoming dates for Play with the Pro and Short Game School.

     SWING TIP OF THE MONTH

Misconception #3 (Posture)

If you have ever been told that having a perfect posture is vital to playing good golf than this video is for you. As you will see in this video, trying to force your body to be in an unnatural or contrived position at address, will very likely lead to ineffective results, a loss of balance, and harm to the lower back. YOUR best posture at address can be found by reacting to your target and creating movement before you start the swing, just like you do in other sports.

If there is a subject that you would like for me to focus on in a future swing tip of the month, please let me know so I can do so. I hope you find these videos helpful for your game.

PGA Tour Player Swing of the Month

2013 United States Open Champion

Justin Rose

Justin is one of the best ball strikers on tour with a very simple/repeatable swing. He seemed to really make progress in his game after switching from David Leadbetter to Sean Foley at the end of 2009. It will be interesting to see how he follows up this year's U.S. Open title - I look for him to have a great career, especially if he can continue to improve his putting.

Honor Roll Students

  • Dennis Ahern- Dennis shot his career low of 70 at the Pine Glen course at Sycuan, three better than his previous best.
  • Justin Rasmussen: Justin shot his career best of 42 for nine holes at Admiral Baker South, four better than his previous best.
  • Joe Monteforte: Joe shot his career low of 43 at Rancho Bernardo Inn.
  • Dennis Shea- Dennis shot his career low of 40 for nine holes at Admiral Baker south, three better than his previous best.
  • Jon Climax- Jon shot his career low of 83 at Eagle Mt. in Scottsdale, Arizona.
