Greetings!

Greetings, I hope this newsletter finds you doing well.

Another Master's, another amazing tournament and finish. Congratulations to Adam Scott, the first Australian ever to win, on capturing his first major in a playoff with Angel Cabrera. Unfortunately, no one chose Adam Scott with their pick to win a free lesson.  You will have another opportunity to pick the winner of the U.S. Open at Merion in mid June to receive a complimentary golf lesson.

In the rest of the newsletter, you will see the following features:

*Video Tip on whether one should focus on keeping your head down.

*Video of 2013 Valero Texas Open Champion Laird Small.
*Honor Roll Students- as you will see, a lot of you are playing some great golf!
*Upcoming dates for One Day Golf School, Short Game School, and Play with the Pro.

     SWING TIP OF THE MONTH

Head Down??

By far, the most common misconception in the golf swing is that one should keep their head down (with swinging slower and keeping your left arm straight being second and third) for as long as possible. As you will see in the video, there are quite a few top players who are not even looking at the ball when they strike it. In my 16 years of coaching golf, I have never told one student to keep their head down as this does not lead to better contact, but instead creates more tension and places too much of an emphasis on the ball rather than the target.

Please let me know if there are any subjects that you would like for me to focus on in future videos.

PGA Tour Player Swing of the Month

2013  Valero Texas Open Champion

Martin Laird

Footage taken from 2011 practice rounds at the Farmer's Invitational.  As you will see in the video, he has one of the widest arcs , in the backswing, of anyone on the PGA Tour.
