What's new this week:
Interfaith Doctor of Ministry program

Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion is the oldest Jewish seminary in North America. The Cincinnati campus of HUC-JIR is currently exploring the option of adding an interfaith Doctor of Ministry program. The Institutional Research and Assessment department of HUC-JIR would greatly appreciate it if you could take this anonymous, brief survey that will help guide our decision making in establishing this program. Thank you.

Bilingual Worship Service at Latino Ministry Center

A bilingual worship service will be held at the Latino Ministry Center on Sunday, July 7. The service begins at 4 p.m., followed by fellowship with ethnic snacks and refreshments.
Celebrant: The Rev. David Bailey, rector of St.Stephen's, Cincinnati
Deacon: The Rev. Marshal Wiseman, St. Timothy's, Anderson Twp.

The Latino Ministry Center is located at 11381 Hanover Road in Forest Park.
Musicians wanted!

The Latino Ministry Commission has increased the frequency of Spanish language worship services at the Latino Ministry Center in Forest Park. Eucharist is now being offered monthly on the first Sunday afternoon of each month.

A rotation of clergy who can lead worship in Spanish, including Bishop Breidenthal, is being developed. Worship is, of course, enhanced by music and we need to expand the list of available musicians. A repertoire of hymns and service music from Latino-friendly sources has been developed. A Clavinova keyboard is usually used, although an organ is also available. Other instrumentalists are also welcome to volunteer!

If you are a musician with the skills to play hymns and service music, this could be a meaningful way to use your talents once or twice a year as part of a rota of musicians. Please contact Carlos de Jesús to discuss this opportunity at 513.319.0287 or cdejesus@cinci.rr.com.
Clergy familiarization tour at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base

The Ohio National Guard will hold a Clergy Familiarization Tour at Rickenbacker Air National Guard base in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday, September 12, 2013. The purpose of this event is to familiarize clergy with the Ohio National Guard's mission and members so that we may more fully partner with Ohio's civilian faith-based community to improve spiritual wellness in the military culture.

Ideal participants include senior faith leaders or other paid congregational staff. We ask that only one candidate be nominated from each organization.

At this event, you will hear an overview briefing about the contemporary role of the Ohio National Guard from a General Officer and a deployment experience from a military chaplain. You will be able to sit-in or be hands-on with military equipment such as a UH-60 Helicopter, KC-135 Stratotanker, Army National Guard ground vehicles, Special Forces weapons and USAF pilot gear. You will also have the opportunity to try your hand at Army convoy and marksmanship training simulators. In addition, our guests tell us that interacting with Soldiers and Airmen at the event is a highlight.

We will start at about 8 a.m. and conclude by 2 p.m.

If you would like to be considered for participation, please complete the electronic form at https://www.research.net/s/12SeptClergy and return it as soon as possible. Please be sure to fill in all the blanks. Please feel free to contact the Ohio National Guard Community Outreach office at 614.336.7002 or ng.oh.oharng.mbx.ong-outreach@mail.mil if you have questions. Please respond no later than July 15, 2013.

Congregation audits

Each year every church in the diocese is required to complete a financial audit for the previous year ended December 31. For several years the audit guidelines have not been mailed but can be found on the Diocesan website on the finance page. These guidelines are for audit committees and should be followed when completing the parish audit.

Audits should be completed and sent to the Diocesan finance office by September 2. Please direct any questions to Chief Financial Officer David Robinson at drobinson@diosohio.org or 800.582.1712.

Lord God, Almighty, in whose Name the founders of this country won liberty for themselves and for us, and lit the torch of freedom for nations then unborn: Grant that we and all the people of this land may have grace to maintain our liberties in righteousness and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
