PIMIL Celebration at St. Matthew's

World renowned Liberian artist, Lawson Sworh will have a showing of his art at the PIMIL (Partners-In-Ministry-In-Liberia) Celebration at St. Matthew's, Westerville on June 29. Sworh will also participate in the children 's activities by leading them in a session in art.

The yearly celebration, which is aimed at raising funds for the education of indigent families in Liberia to send their children to school, will have varied and exciting attractions, including an International catered luncheon at 11:30 a.m., an inspirational presentation by Dr. LeRoy Boikai, a resident of Columbus and the Director of the Adult Program at Ethiopian Tewadedo Social Services, children's activities and a Heritage Dress Parade of contestants representing their countries of choice. Congregation audits

Each year every church in the diocese is required to complete a financial audit for the previous year ended December 31. For several years the audit guidelines have not been mailed but can be found on the Diocesan website on the finance page. These guidelines are for audit committees and should be followed when completing the parish audit.

Audits should be completed and sent to the Diocesan finance office by September 2. Please direct any questions to Chief Financial Officer David Robinson at drobinson@diosohio.org or 800.582.1712.

Renewing Your Spirit: A pilgrimage to Russia at Pentecost

The Miami Valley Episcopal Russian Network (MVERN) announces that its next adult trip to Russia is scheduled for June 2-13, 2014, during the famous White Nights, when the sun never sets. Renew your spirit through the pageantry and splendor of Pentecost services, when birch branches and flowers cover the interiors of Russian churches and cathedrals. Explore the world-renowned cultural and historical sites of St. Petersburg, including the great Hermitage State Museum, the nearby gardens and fountains of the Petrodvorets Palace and the beautifully restored Catherine Palace. Not to be missed is a side trip to the ancient capital of Novgorod. See first-hand MVERN's ministry in the village of Sablino and work together with parishioners as they prepare St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox church for the great celebration of Pentecost.

The trip will cost approximately $3,000 plus airfare and will be led by the Rev. Dr. Dave Cottrill and Dr. Joseph Schenk. As in the past, your guide will be Dr. Igor Tolochin, professor of English at the University of St. Petersburg. Brochures with complete details will be available by mid-August. For additional information please send your name, mailing address and e-mail address to MVERN, c/o Dr. Joseph Schenk, 620 Shafor Blvd., Dayton, OH 45419-3832 or schenk@udayton.edu
