Bookkeeper needed
The Finance office is looking for a bookkeeper. This position will join the two current bookkeepers but will be responsible for monies coming into the diocese.  Mission share contributions, loan payments, grants and other funding will be the focus of this position. This position will also relieve other diocesan staff of finance related tasks and place them all within the finance office. Although partly funded from the diocesan budget this position is also funded from accounting fees charged to other organizations.

Specifically the Accountant/Bookkeeper will be responsible for knowing the A/P, A/R, Payroll, Employee Benefits Administration, Financial Statements, Balance Sheets and Month-end close. The individual should be self motivated, have the ability to do financial analysis and to prepare special reports for the CFO and Accounting Manager. Much of the work related to this position will be in the administration of accounts receivable, to include reconciling accounts, process AR statements, resolve intercompany receivable issues, loan payments, mission share contributions, process check from lock box and conference center receipts. Work history must show strong technical skills in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks. Accounting duties will include fund accounting, billing, loan payment processing, issuing checks, weekly reconciliations, cash management, and possibly financial reporting. The Bookkeeper must have proficiency in full cycle accounts payable, full cycle accounts receivable, and payroll.
Requirements
3- 7 years general accounting experience
2 year accounting or business degree preferred
Strong analytical, problem solving, research, math and data analysis skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Organized, detail-oriented and have ability to manage multiple projects
Demonstrated integrity, values, principles, and work ethic
Proficiency with Word and Excel and QuickBooks
Ability to be cross trained in other areas
Limited travel on occasion, evening and weekends on occasion

The finance office has expanded operations and regulatory compliance work partly due to new ministry initiatives in the diocese. With $8 million in operating budgets spread across nine companies the finance office is understaffed. This position will help solve this problem as well as add an additional level of internal controls. This position will also bring the diocese in line with other similar sized dioceses with financial operations of equal size.
Those interested in applying for the position should contact David Robinson, CFO, by email at DRobinson@diosohio.org.

Treasurer's workshop: Church audits
It time to start thinking about church audits:

Join CPAs and diocesan staff in workshops addressing RFP's and a CPA audit, how to conduct a committee audit, and a walk through of the diocesan procedures of a committee audit.

The workshop will be held on June 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Procter Center. The cost to cover lunch is $10. Register at http://diosohio.org/digital_faith/events/3154637

ECSF Grantseekers' workshops

The Episcopal Community Services Foundation is holding six workshops around the diocese from June 1 to July 13 to give people the chance to explore ECSF's new funding priorities and to share lore with other people responding to poverty in nearby communities. An Ohio non-profit, ECSF is the diocese's primary source of grants for ministries tackling poverty within Ohio. This is your chance to learn the rationale underlying ECSF's current grant making.

Three workshops are coming up in the next ten days:

* Scioto River Deanery, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  at St. Mary's, Hillsboro
* Greater Cincinnati area June 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Church of the Advent, Cincinnati
* Hocking Valley Churches June 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  at Grace Church, Pomeroy.

To sign up for a workshop, see the proposal instructions and read ECSF's new funding priorities on ECSF's website, visit http://www.ECSFsouthernohio.org. Requests for 2014 grants are due Sept. 15.

ECSF accepting midcycle grant requests through July 31

ECSF has a total of  $7,000 for available for mid-cycle grants this year. Programs currently receiving an ECSF grant can request an emergency grant if their services are endangered because of extraordinary circumstances beyond the ability of the sponsoring church to respond. You can also request a grant if swift action is essential to take advantage of special opportunities. This category applies to projects which haven't yet been funded by ECSF. Proposal instructions are on the ECSF website, at the Awarding Grants link.

Christian educators to focus on youth
June 10-14 event features nearly 40 workshops on latest trends in reaching next generation

Christian educators can learn the latest trends in reaching the next generation and their own during Kanuga's Christian Formation Conference June 10-14.

In its 85th year, the largest event of its kind in the Episcopal Church will feature notable Christian leaders Shane Claiborne and the Rev. Matthew Moretz as keynoters.  This year's theme is "Holy Mischief: Christian Formation for What is Next" includes four days of learning, fellowship, refreshment and renewal with some of the Church's top educators.  This exciting event will offer practical, take-home resources for leading faith formation programs of all ages; tools for building a unique curriculum that truly fits your parish; more than 30 workshops on a wide variety of topics (Tentative Workshop Schedule); networking, support and encouragement from some of the Church's top Christian educators; and time to nourish your own spiritual development with respite, renewal and play.

Conference Coordinator Emily Given of St. Michael's and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas describes the event, "As formers of the faith, we are called to reach out in ancient-modern ways to inspire, excite, and spread the news of God in Christ. Joy and playfulness are two of the many ways we can live a growing life of faith. This conference will feature keynoters who are helping to create a wider understanding of God in the world through mission, ministry, technology and social justice. A whole array of workshops and individual consultations will give participants a chance to sharpen their skills, provide new avenues of being in ministry, and provide wonderfully creative outlets for prayer and reflection."

Limited spaces are still available. To learn about this year's speakers and to secure reservations, visit: http://www.kanuga.org/christianformation.
