What a convention awaits us! We are truly blessed to be able to gather together once again as a diocese, to greet old friends and to say goodbye to old ones.
As you know, Bishop Ken and Marianne Price are entering into some well-deserved retirement. The diocese is truly grateful for their ministry here with us, and to honor them and all they have done for us, we are working toward a Diocese-wide effort to raise $18,000 for Episcopal Relief & Development's
NetsforLife® Inspiration Fund - one thousand dollars for every year of their ministry among us - which will be matched by the Procter Fund.
NetsforLife® provides life-saving, malaria-preventing mosquito nets to families in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as education on how to care for and use the nets and testing and treatment for malaria. I can't think of a better way to show our love and appreciation to Bishop Ken and Mariann than by passing on their love for this diocese to our neighbors in Africa.
Please designate a member of your delegation be sure to pick up your congregation's packet of information on NetsforLife® and our diocese's campaign efforts. The packet will have the name of your congregation on the front and will be on a table in the Convention Hall while you are at convention.
You and your congregation are a vital parts of the work to be done and we hope that you will find yourself energized by this work and excited to share it with your congregations at home.
